I would like to have some in red (ifthey make them) perhaps for looks, but my bike stops on a dime as it is. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. :confused2:

Then again I suppose there are more experienced on this forum whose opinion would greatly differ. I just know I am old enough to realize I am not invincible anymore and don't do speeds great enough to warrant the upgrade on a performance based aspect.

You're right...the bike already has legendary brakes, but if you want the cool look, then yes, get the red sleeved steel lines....and Galfer are very nice.

You would only really notice the difference on the track or very spirited twisty riding where you are abusing the brakes...you'll have a firmer feel in the lever.

I'm working on a full Galfer setup for my bike...

The stock brake lines are very good....i got 11k miles on mine and still stop on a dime.....if you want just the looks...then get them. but if you want them for performance....stock ones are very good, bleed your lines every 6k miles to keep them in good shape and very good perf.
if you get the braided ones.....get ready to slide on your fuel tank, you will feel the diference.

Dang thanks for the valuable info. Yea I think I want them for both looks and performance I am more and more concentrating on the canyons so I suppose I'm a canyon rider. I really like the corners and I find myself getting faster and faster and I think I could use the better breaking performance. Besides the red would look supper wicked on my Black 07 CBR 1000RR......

Here is another question some of the kits come with one front break line and some come with two and even three.....Could someone explain this to me also? I want then all the way around front, back, and clutch....

There are TWO seperate front BRAKE lines, ONE rear brake line, and ONE clutch line. If you have seen kits with 2, 3 and 4 lines, then it could be kits for front and back, and kits including the clutch line.

There are a total of THREE brake lines and ONE clutch line on a 1000RR.

The steel lines DO make a difference in braking especially under hard braking. Stock lines can and do expand which causes a pressure drop and requires increased lever pull. Steel lines cannot expand or swell under hard braking and the pressure stays constant giving you much better brake feedback.

Well alright sounds like I'm going to go with the two line front brakes, one rear and one clutch which comes to about $180.00. So I think I'll also go ahead and throw in the Pazzo Levers (Black with red/or Red with black) Friday is my birthday!

Anything else I'm over looking when it comes to the lines I don't like getting something and then someone saying well why didn't you get the fancy hight speed bolt's to go along with them?

For intance this.....what? GOODRIDGE DOUBLE AIR FREE BANJO BOLTS 10MM X 1.25

I just ordered a complete set from cyclebrakes. They offer a discount from the 1000RR forum. I was going to get red lines with red fittings and bolts, then just the clutch in red, then I chose the new platinum version with red aluminum fittings and red double banjo bleeder bolts.

They also have a racing version that does not have the banjo bolts but you will need to sign a waiver as they require regular maintanance. Most likely they need to be retorqued often. Since I won't check it often enough I opted for the performance lines instead of the race lines. They are dual lines instead of the "Y" so that's an upgrade allready.

Hey what do those double banjo bleeder bolts do anyway?

^ since there are two lines on one post, you need a double banjo bolt. The also offer an option that adds or combines a speeed bleeder in to that one peice. You can also get them anodized and get matching colored bolts as well.

Please help me choose color scheme, arg!

choice #1:
rear brake - platinum line, silver fittings, red bolts and bleeders.
front brake - platinum lines, silver fittings, red bolts and bleeders.
front clutch- platinum line, silver fittings, red bolts and beeders.

choice#2:
rear brake - platinum line, silver fittings, red bolts and bleeders.
front brake - red lines, silver fittings, red bolts and bleeders.
front clutch - platinum line, silver fittings, red bolts and beeders.

choice #3:
rear brake - platinum line, silver fittings, red bolts and bleeders.
front brake - platinum lines, silver fittings, red bolts and bleeders.
front clutch- red line, silver fittings, red bolts and beeders.

choice #4:
rear brake - platinum line, silver fittings, red bolts and bleeders.
front brake - red lines, silver fittings, red bolts and bleeders.
front clutch - red line, silver fittings, red bolts and beeders.

yeah, to paint your stock rear hugger you need plastic paint primer and clear coat. You can get those at home depot. The red spray paint you want to get from the dealer or online but I don't think you'll save any money online because of shipping. You may have to do some wet sanding to. I thought about ornage for the rear hugger but red lines up with the plastic color scheme.

:iagree: :stupid: :secret: :focus:

Got my lines, and I'm going to put them on myself with the help from a friend that has done it before. I was wondering if anyone could point me into the right direction for step by step directions on how to install them. I know their was this website that some guy had a Repsol whom had a bunch of how to infor on like everything but since I have a new computer I can't remember the site. I went to the Moto Expo today and watched Jason Britton stunt man that guy can ride in a parking lot.

Galfer also makes double banjo bolts with bleeders on them but I decided against it since it seemed redundant. The only advantage is you can crack them open and let them blled themselves overnight since the air will travel upwards ...but what if you forget their open?

but what if you forget their open?

You'll remember pulling out of the driveway when you pull the brake lever and nothing happens....

I'll probably get the bleeder up top when I do braided lines (Christmas?). My '01 929 never stopped right. I'm sure there were plenty of problems, but it was always a PITA to bleed the system.

I know she is dirty I just went on a ride for like 7 hours up to Julian and around Palomar Mt. My friend Chris helped me install the Galfer lines all around Front, Rear and Clutch. We used a Craftsman hand pump to help out with the labor it only took like 3 hours for the entire thing the front brake lines took the longest. The Clutch line looks harder than it really was, the hardest thing was getting out the stock clutch line which in the middle is aluminum or something so we had to bend and twist to get it out from behind the frame of the bike. Anywho again never mind the dirt, Just check out the lines the look and feel incredible.......

Just so everyone knows me nor my friend have ever done this before. I have never even changed the oil on a bike. We went straight off the Hooligan bike tech site and common sense.....
