Guys I am thinking of selling the Repsol in order to get another RC51.

She is an 05 with 5000 miles 800 miles on 06 motor
Puig Iridum windscreen
Goodridge braided steel Brake lines Front and Rear
CRG shorty levers
Akrapovic Evo Titanium System with carbon can
Machined rear rotor
Gillies chain adjusters and stand lifters
Vortex clipons
Factory Honda seat cowl
Clear alternative tail light
hotbodies turn signals

Asking 9000

Just not as happy as I was with the 51, I have fought this for two years now and its not getting any better. The Repsol is sexy as hell but has no soul!

Would you consider selling me the Gillles adjusters/lifters?

Twins have a soul that no inline four has. You have to ride on to understand the sound, the way they build power. Its is a viseral experience!

Kinda like switching from a 2-stroke dirt bike to a 4-stroke... it's the same, but totally different.

Now that I've made the jump to a 4-stroke, I'll never go back. The next 2-stroke I own will be a "second" bike, to supplement the 4-stroke.

I owned several harley's previous to the CBR and my last was a dyna glide wiht 96 cubic inch stoker fly wheels, red hot pistons titanium valves, etc... the list goes on I even ran 115 octane fuel on dual plug heads so that particular twin screamed hencefourth the nmae screaming eagle performace parts. I know the feeling vtwin's have and reaction but to say the CBR does not have enough PUNCH? The vwtin is always more headache and more work , the sound is definetly a love affair but :confused2:

Ohh I forgot to ask , the whole reason I got on this thread, how did you end up wiht a 2006 motor on a 2005 REPSOL ?

msalser1000
October 17th, 2007, 11:11 PM
The 05 motor shat itsself. The rc 51 has smother power and the chasis is so stable. You cant compare a harley to a rc51 or a 999 no comparsion. You just need to ride one to understand.

Alright understood the vtwin I had built was blueprinted, balanced, alot of the internals were coated and overall the engine handbuilt... very smooth power delivery. I did ride the vmax both the european tuned up version and the original blvd USA version. I think I understand what you mean , but the in-line four seems to make the most beneficial horsepower while keeping the machine reliable. YIKES sorry to hear about your motor, was there any indications? Was this under warranty? What caused the failure?

Three con rods stamped with same codes the one that was not stamped was was the one that let go. Out of warranty so i did some ebay shopping.

As for power it all in eye of the beholder, A twin is just as capable, and were are any of us gonna use any of these bike to their full potential. I like the the way the rc does things that it does.

:+1: Don't think my 07 has even hit anything over 10,000 RPM.. City life just doesn't offer enough opportunities...:chase:

It's all about personal feelings. Most of my buddies have switch to twins and say they will never go back to in-lines. I personally prefer the power band on the in-lines over the twins. I have ridden the RC51, 996, RSV Mille R and a few others, I just don't care for the way the power is delivered. I like the bike to get stronger as the RPMs go up, not the other way around. I like the smooth power out of the corners and the ability to jump on it in the higher RPMs without have to shift. I kept hitting the rev limiter on the RC because it ran out of juice so quickly.

Although I think the RC51 is a very sweet bike, I would never own one over my in-lines. :)

Well i understand what your saying Mike. It has nothing to do with repsol. The RC is just a wicked machine! The flickable nature and raw power cant be beat. And for those of you comparing the RC twin to a harley. . . its no where near the same power. More valves and so much higher reving motors that they cant be compared to each other. BUT!! keep the Repsol and find a good deal on a RC-51:)

Well it all in what you like. Myself I like the 51, damn near bought a 999s when I bought my Repsol. I can go just as fast on a twin as i can a inline four Just dont have to rev the guts out of it to do it. Be sides everyone and their brother has an inline 4. I like being different.

No feelings hurt. I am learning more about the rc51 and wouldn't mind having one. As far as the 999s, I just about bought one a few weeks ago myself.:D

I would actually love to have an RC...but I was holding out for an RC61, hoping they'd build a 1200...Honda needs more in their sport line.

I'm sure your new RC will be very special...don't hesitate posting pics here when you get her...once a Repsol owner, always a friend of this family.

Cheers...RR

The guy who sold me my Repsol has an RC51....he said its not as fast straight on as the other new liter bikes but in the twisties he leaves everyone in the dust......I'd like to ride one someday.

They arent ment to drag race, But most people think strait line speed is fast. The rc51 shines in the twisties! They were ment to go through the corners.

Oh I wouldnt say that. When we came back from vegas a while back my buddy was riding my wifes RC and we got screwing around on the long straits (straits are so boring) and he hit the throttle and then i did and he stayed out front till we hit about 145 to 150 and then i walked up on him. I dont know how fast most ride but that thing hit 168 to 170 and was not to far behind me:eek:

Don't forget that championships were won on RC51s not that long ago...and races at Daytona.

Those things can be made wicked fast, and the torque is very strong...

They are beautiful to look at and the sounds are certainly soul stirring...

RRI agree, I love the bike and would love to have one in my garage, especially one like Troy's wifes RC51 . Just not as my only bike. I find my 900 and 1000 to be much more comfortable for longer rides, although I'd love to throw an RC51 through the Little Dragon. :)

Thats pretty much how i feel about it. I bought the repsol first but when it came to buying another it had to be an RC. (cuz I always sneak a ride in on that one when Misty isnt riding)

PM squidracer - he put a full system on his bike and may be willing to part with the stock headers if MSalser doesn't still have them.

Can't make any promises though...
