I want some track boots and i've been looking at the $200-$300 range but I really like the Alpinestars Supertech just don't want to spend >$350. Dang, why are the Sidi Vertigo's $450?

I want some track boots

Why spend a crapload of money on some boots that are quite probably going to get scuffed up?

I bought a pair of Sidi's slightly used for $60... I'll argue that they work just as well as a brand new pair of $200 or $450 boots.

I've been down 4 or 5 times with those boots, and just like my used leathers, I don't feel bad adding new scuff marks.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree to a point. But If you have the money, and like nice things, just get the ones you want. . no matter the cost if it makes you happy.
Personally I love those Astars, the snow cammo and white are just sick! Besides. . . someone has to buy it new. . . barely use them. . . and sell them used so I can afford them!:D

there are some good boots for the track that are running about $150. they are call SET UP....the name it means alot to some people, these are very good quality boots though....the company and the quaility is being supervise by SIDE boots....which is also the same brand that some leathers suits and some boots are made for motogp....if i recall the data correctly.

in Stockton, ca.....honda dealer SHY...they have the boots for $135 a set. two weeks ago...they had about 6 pairs..... last week i went to see if they had red colors.....boots were gone. they are getting some more though.

to some of you....brand name is a big deal. like i said the quality of these boots are being supervise by SIDI...which is a very good brand to some of us.

Can anyone who has a pair of Sidi Vertigos help me out?? I wear a size 13 boot and was told that the

13-13 1/2 wont fit me :confused2: I dont want to spend $300+ on a pair of boots that I cant return or

have to pay to ship back to where ever I buy them from. Any feedback on the fit and sizing of these boots

would be great. Thanks ;)

I was in the same boat....I now have boots that are a tad too large...I make up for it by wearing thicker or 2 pairs of socks.

Dont recall exactly if Sidi run larger...I may have just ordered some comparable to what I wear in sneakers.

If I order them in my tennis shoe size, which they dont make the Vertigos in of course, I would need 14-15.

But all my boots and dress shoes are size 13 so Im thinking I can get away with the largest size Vertigos.

Well, I wear size 12 in Nike shoes...and I bought Sidi EUR47/UK12/US12.5, and they are just a little loose.
Better loose than tight...I got room for growth.

So i guess its safe to buy what you wear with maybe an extra 1/2 inch.

I looked at the Setup. Don't care what company makes them. That doesn't make them better. They have no impact protection. I have a pair of leather boots I got a closeout new for $60 that I consider about the same thing.

I will be getting new Teknic Speedstar Kangaroo's. The are the same as Dainese. Not because they are made in the same building but they have the same inner carbon fiber boot and the out boot is kangaroo which is like half the weight of cow but more road rash resistant. I still love the camo A*'s but it's overbudget.

Are you saying the Sidis arent any good? Ive heard they are one of the best. Im doing mainly street

riding and just want some extra security. Also need some comfort and movement too.

I wear a 10.5 in nike - 10 in most other shoes and boots and could not find a comfortable fit in sidi boots. They are narrow and squeeze my foot. I don't have a really wide foot either, about average probably. A* I fit in a 43 pretty well sidi not even in a 45. good luck

My theory is backwards from most people I guess. Most people think get disposable stuff cuase you will go down when starting out and learning but wouldn't you want more protection if you're more likely to go down?

Sidi's are rated excellent but if I had that kind of money to spend on boots alone i'd prolly still get the A* camo's. For now it's the Teknic Speedstar's at half the price of Dainese.

I havent heard any bad things about Sidi...I think any boot will do as long as its past the ankle, has ankle pad, shin guard and some type of mechanism to keep your ankle from twisting and bending beyond what it was suppose to do.

I have an older set of Sidi's that have a brace looking thing on the outter side of the ankle....I have yet to really test it, but it appears to keep the ankle in place.

You cant go wrong with Sidi, A*, and some of the other popular boots....anything is better than hightop sneakers.

Oxtar is a pretty good brand as well....Right now they are in the process of changing names due to a lawsuit, so you should be able to get a great deal on a pair...look here:

I think these are the same boot...only with the updated name on them.

I have the Sidi Vertigo's and found that they are alot easier to put on and take off then others. As well as more comfortable since you can adjust the fit to your foot. There well worth the extra bucks.

I got to try on the new A* Supertech R's last week. You will not be disappointed with this boot. Don't compare them to the previous Supertech, this is an all new boot. It's the most comfortable race boot I've tried, and the protection looks to be really good. The color that you all are calling camo is really cool. If you will look a little closer the grey in the camo pattern is actually the outline all of the moto gp tracks. It is really cool in person.

You can't call setup quality just because it's made in the same plant as Sidi. That's like say VW is a tol sports car because it's maybe by Porsche(/Audi).

Anyhow, I love the new A* supertech and yes they are new design similar to Dainese but I beleive the inner boot is plastic or other. Teknic on the other hand has a closer replica and their inner boot is made of carbon fiber and half the price of Dainese but just as ugly.

Whomever got the A* supertech in the Respol colors scored big time. ;)
