User Titles?

Okay, the user titles that appear under your name on each post, are the same default ones that came with the software.

Junior Member (0-249)
Member (250-499)
Senior Member (500+)

Now, I have adjusted a few user tiles for those members I felt inclined to change, but I've been thinking that the default names need to go.

I'm open for any ideas as to what names you all would prefer to have as your user titles. I would prefer to keep them based on the amount of posts you have. I will still hand out "special" user titles to those I feel need an adjustment. :)

presonally i think we should have

0-50 as noooob
50-150 junior member
150-300 member
300-500 active member
500-750 happily participating
750-1000 trainee postwhore
1000-1500 attention seeker
1500+ part of the furniture

this could be changed as time goes by & more members reach these targets

special mentions could be

I think we should be able to edit the title to anything we like...at anytime we like....keeps it interesting, allows us to change it based on our mood, or our business or whatever, and frankly the tiered naming based on posts sounds like a class system.

I certainly don't feel like a Junior Member even though I haven't hit 250 yet, and I feel that what I have to say is every bit as relevant as TX... well in his case more so...:D, because he spends more time whoring than anything else...:rolleyes:

I kinda agree with RR, I don't have that many posts but I read most all the new posts everyday and post when I feel like it, so I feel like a very active member. But maybe we could have both 'member' or 'senior member' or whatever PLUS a little personal quote under that? :D:D

Why does it go by the number of posts? All that does is encourage more of the "+1" posts and other meaningless wastes of space.

How about number of posts vs. time as a member? ie: Average posts per day. When someone has a few hundred posts and only 60 days as a member, he truly has no life and should be labeled accordingly.

There are many forums where the member can edit his own title and put in what he wants. Whats wrong with that? Allows for more personalization and some creativity without spawning posting wars. If anything, it should be LENGTH OF MEMBERSHIP, longevity is a TRUE measure. Not how many times you can say +1, +1, +1 like a mindless idiot.

Personally I have more respect for someone that posts less but has more to say, than some idiot that posts all the time and says nothing.

I think you guys are going way overkill with the titles here. Several of you listed like 20 different titles. I could really care less about someones title.

Sure, there are some of us that "truly have no life and should be labeled accordingly". Does it mean my user title should be different from Diell11? I don't think so. He rarely posts, but each of his posts contain more viable information than the rest of our posts combined.

I'd say let the user titles be open and customizable, within reason. If someone's title is offensive, BK of course has rights to edit/punish as required.

Certainly not! Just a general comment, no direction.

Go with TIME as a member, or customizable. Number of posts as a measure is :shortbus: and will do nothing but encourage a flood of crap and worthless posts in here (which will have the side effect of making this too much like every other forum, which I thought we were trying to avoid)

i agree though average posts per day is a good way to do it...

I think it should count replies versus thread start..more replies is whoring..calculate that number..and if replies is more...then your just sleeping around with starters..kinda like cheerleaders and football players...nobody cares if she sleeps with the bench...but if she sleeps with the QB and the RB....then...;) in this case..all you people replying to every BK post = post whore...lol...;) now add another number to my posts...lol...have fun guys...
