Why. Have you shipped some before. I dont have a trailer. So all that plus driving coast to coast. Time is not on my side. But I really want to do this. I have heard the event with Repsol is a must do. Love to check it out. But to get the Repsol thing you need to have your ride there. The tents and pit area seem cool! Should I leave her home? CBR not the other one.

There are quite a few shipping companies that transport motorcycles. It won't be cheap, considering they're paying for gas just like you would, plus charging additional cash for income, equipment usage, etc.
I can't think of it right now, but my brother found a cool site a little while back when he sold his jet ski. It's a site where you post the logistics of your shipment and a bunch of companies "bid" to try and get your business.
I'll ask him about it and post it here.
Also - I plan to make the trip to Laguna next year. There are several forum members in Texas, one of whom is a good friend of mine. He and I plan to make the trip together, cutting the cost in half. We might see if another Texan would like to ride (trailer) with us, cutting the cost to 1/3rds.

The trick is, you won't get the REPSOL special treatment w/o your bike. They require display of your REPSOL at their stand if you expect to receive goodies and special treatment from them. ;)
Just owning a REPSOL and not bringing it doesn't count.

Well....this past year there were several slots for Repsol riders who had their bike on display to several goodies.
Free admission all 3 days
Free paddock pass all 3 days
Special parking @ the Repsol tent...not out in the damn boondocks.
Free Repsol hospitality tent(Food, and all the drinks you could slam)
Closed circuit TV for those who didnt want a sunburn
Private grandstand seating at turn 10(?)
Interview session with Nicky
Great opportunity to chat with Repsol forum founder and all around great guy....Big Kahuna...and his wife.
And last but not least, meet fellow Repsol forum members to include that very popular guy....Repsol47:D

Thanks....so I guess we are talking about the Moto GP race here...sounds indeed nice...and if my English skills are not fooling me...paddock is the place where all the riders are? Including the grid girls?
If so let's see here....from here to Laguna Seca is roughly 2,300 miles each way...four days should be manageable...so...3 nights in a hotel each way...does not sound that bad does it? Oh yes...certainly would need that Repsol thingie on two wheels... :D
Hmm... Don't they talk about having a race in Indianapolis? Including the Repsol privileges and the grid girls? Would be MUCH easier for me...

Radical Rich-
I did a lot of research in the shipping department before I bought my Repsol. Uship.com is where you can place an ad on what you want shipped and allows others to bid on your shipment. Usually a little less in cost, although delivery date is not guaranteed. The other option is finding a crate or container shipping company that specializes in motorcycles. You check out their website which will list the Terminal locations. You must load and secure you bike in the crate/container and there is a set price for the delivery. You have to pick your bike up at a terminal destination. The delivery date is pretty much guaranteed, no delay for a trailer breakdown or a 2 to 3 week window from a broker. Hope this helps.

I know that we might could get a deal worked out with http://www.haulbikes.com/zonemap.html
especially if You, Donna & I (maybe more from the east coast) got together and called them, especially since we are shipping 3 bikes, they might cut us a deal. Flight's round trip for both Donna and I on the 25th are $523.00 round trip for both.

Dave, if the following four things happen:
They offer it again at Laguna Seca
I have a Repsol until then
I get can myself out of the office at that time
I still live in Kentucky

Doesn't look lik ehe has the 2008 schedule up there yet, but imagine they could give you an idea if you called. You can do the school on your own bike or use one of their R6s.

Track days at Laguna are fun. Check with Keigwins at the track. The only thing that sucks about Laguna is that stock exhausts and numbers on your bike are required. Also if your stock exhaust is too loud you'll get the warning then pulled off the track, thats why they want you to put numbers on your bike.

As for the GP race, the dates are July 18-20th. Tickets are on sale now. But as for hotels you might be out of luck. By this time last year they were sold out. I had called hotels in a 30mile radius and no luck. Some hotels required a min. 5 night stay @ 500.00 a night. Others hotels would only take reservations if you had stayed there the year before and still at really high prices. My cousin tried going thru his time share and that was also booked.

With a "central location for tourist attractions" and lots of "coastal ambiance", this family-friendly resort is popular with outdoorsy types given the Del Monte golf course, on-site tennis courts and gardens that are a "haven for monarch butterflies"; while the facilities, including the restaurant, were "under refurbishment" during this Survey (outdating some of the above scores), many say they expect to "highly recommend" this "lovely" lodging when renovations are complete.

You guys are definitely jumping the gun on Laguna, but as the guy that started the Repsol thing with Repsol at Laguna, and hosts the Saturday night party, I with Big Kahuna will be letting Repsol Forum members in on the deal for 2008 at Laguna. We will figure out some selection process earlier next year, and give people plenty of notice...but rooms are always expensive for the big Laguna events. You will find some avaialbility closer to the event due to cancellations...which are inevitable.
I can say that it will happen again in '08, but like last year, we will be limiting the number of people in the tent to 10-15 Repsol owners who will absolutely commit their bikes to all 3 days in the tent. This is no easy commitment if you are far away, but we had one from Idaho (1eyebrother) and another from Florida for Sunday only...he was given the access at the Saturday night party at El Torito on Cannery Row.
The Saturday night event will be happening again next year and all are welcome. We had 40 Repsols show up this year...I'd love to see us hit 50 next year. We are making it bigger and better in '08 and making sure that all Repsol owners get something special for showing up. There was so little time to plan last year because there was new management at El Torito, and the location wasn't even secured until a few weeks before.
The Indy race is a completely different deal. There will be no Repsol Hospitality Tent and no bike display like we do at Laguna. I am however working on an event for Saturday night in Indianapolis, but it is very likely that the local Repsol Forum guys will help in some way. There will be a private Repsol box at the track, but this will be private invitation only, and really for Repsol's most important clients.
I will share more and Big Kahuna will post up as the events approach next year, but we really don't get rolling on the planning until February or March...
Until then...RR

I am however working on an event for Saturday night in Indianapolis, but it is very likely that the local Repsol Forum guys will help in some way. There will be a private Repsol box at the track, but this will be private invitation only, and really for Repsol's most important clients.
I will share more and Big Kahuna will post up as the events approach next year, but we really don't get rolling on the planning until February or March...
Until then...RR
I hear what you are saying but I am also hearing that rooms run out and although there may cancellations, I would not want to depend on that for accomodations.......That is the only reason I was trying to find out something earlier than 1 month notice. Especially since I would be securing shipment of 2 bike's, plus wanting to stay as close as possible to the track.:confused2:

it would be very difficult to get rooms even now...you may be lucky and have rooms available for $300-430 per night. it gets so ridiculous for rooms. the hotels and motels managers, they know people would pay that kind of money on this special weekend.
so even if you get some rooms....be ready to pay top dollar.

And that is actually the main reason to stay out of Laguna for me...unless I find a nice girl where I can stay the nights...
But looking at everything this trip could easily cost $3K or more....and honestly...for $3K I rather go for three days to Freddie Spencer... :hail:
