talking about fast Freddie Spencer.....HE STILL VERY FAST.!!!! i think it was few months ago....he took another ride on the ROTHMANS HONDA 1984-86 for a quick ride, it came out on some magazines. it was like the 80s again for him. i saw him in laguna event....i have him on video. he is very cool...he took his time to talk to me. Freddie and Eddie Lawson are my favorite riders from the 80s.

Hey Tony it's so good to hear that a guy like Freddie would take the time to talk to you....very cool. All this talk makes me want to go out and find an old 900 and restore it......

i think some of you may not agree....but i think that 80s and early 90s motogp and ama racing were the best....there were so many controversial issues and some of the best riders still consider today....

if you need to view some of the old races.....check out dukevideo.com they have the old races on video. very good ones.

It's a 750. Funny you should mention a 500. I was looking at one just last week. It is a 1986. It looked to be in excellent condition. I had one of those too, back when I was racing the 750. I didn't race it, but it was a blast to ride. You kinda held the throttle to the stop and shuffled through the gearbox. I had to sell it as I was either going to loose my license or my life. It was a clear cut case of too much fun!

yeah...those were the days. if i remember correctly....the life expectancy in the 80s on the new bikes coming out.....600cc ninja, 900cc ninja, yamaha 600fzr, suszuki 750cc gixxer and the hurricane 600....was 90days. i tried to get full coverage on my bike.....and it was about $300dlrs full coverage....back then, damm!!!!! it was about $1000 dlrs comparing to today's.

i dropped my 500cc couple of times, as i was learning the hardway and commuting to high school and college, in 1985 suzuki gixxer 750cc came out....and i traded my honda. i hesitated since i saw the vfour 1000cc honda interceptor with racing graphics. blue, red and white....both of the bikes were jewels....but still went with suzuki gixxer 750....black, red and white....those were the good days.

I always lusted after the VF1000F. Len Miller and John Ashmead had one and raced it in the AMACCS Endurance Series with me when I was racing the VF750F in the picture. I really liked the bike and they rode it well. I also had a Hurricane and couple of CBR600s. I bought the Hurricane wrecked from a guy I raced with for about $500. I fixed it up and bought all new RWB bodywork for it and rode it several years. I gave the Hurricane to my son for his birthday many years ago. He sold it to his cousin who still rides it. Those were fun days. I was made out of rubber and had no fear of crashing.

Looks like we have a lot in common Mario, including the big six. Heady times. I spent all my money on VF750Fs keeping the endurance team together and couldn't afford a 1000.

Looks like we do Gene. Those V4's are great. The big Six though, will always be in my garage. Rode it around yesterday and it still gets alot of attention. I believe i paid $4100 for my 1000F back in early 85. That bike was solid and very fast for it's day....I still miss the mid-range punch.....

Bought mine in August 1978. It was the first in the area and I took it to Laguna Seca that summer, on my honeymoon. Nobody in CA had seen a CBX yet. I watched Freddie Spencer ride AMA Superbike at that race. The AMA wouldn't let him run F1 as he was too young, 16 I think. I saw him pass in the grass on the outside going down the left hand shoot just after the corkscrew. I was impressed. My buddie Richard Chambbers was there riding his F1 Yamaha TZ750. Kenny Roberts won if I remember correctly.

I have had the bike ever since and would not consider selling it. I let it sit for too long and the carbs got the black death. I pulled them off last year and send them out to have them rebuilt, but they screwed it up after charging me $600. I rebuilt them myself this summer, but haven't gotten it back together yet. Been too busy riding the Repsol.

Just turned 60 this past August. I started riding in '69 on a Honda S90. I didn't know how to ride and the salesman said "those little petals shift the gears and stuff". I crashed three time on the way home. I guess I’ve had about 30 bikes, including ten or so race bikes. 2 RD400s, four VF750Fs, a TZ750D, and a Hurricane/CBR600. I now ride my '79 CBX, '07 Repsol, and a ‘04 Interceptor I commute to work on, about 35 miles one way. Once and a while I'll take the Repsol to work. I ride to work in the winter when it’s above freezing. I try not to ride in the rain if I can help it.
