Greetings, I'm new to the forum and this is my "first time". I just bought an new '07 CBR1000RR and am now in search of a few necessary add-ons. I have searched the site but find no mention of the D&D slip on which I am about to buy. It is 2 small diameter black exhaust pipes rather than one larger can. Anyone have any expirence with this pipe or D&D. Thanks.

I hope to get that pipe as well. Keep us informed about it.
I have had one on my old F4, it was super loud. My ZX9R has one and its sounds great, so I want to keep with what I like.
So welcome and Keep us informed when you get one.

I have a set of D&D carbon exhaust on my Ducati 900SS and they are amazing. Such a deep roar that is sooooo much better than stock...even though the Ducati Desmodronic is always amazing..but the fit and finish of them are above par...I've been thinking of getting a slip on for my 2005 Repsol but I was looking last night and don't think they made them for the 2005....just 2006 and up. Most likely will get the Yoshimura RS-5 as they sound and look the best imo. So my vote is +1 for the D&D mate.

Thanks to all for your feedback. I found some unbelievable deals at this link on GPR exhausts. However, they are for the 04-05 model. Anyone know if they will fit the 06-07?:confused2: http://www.oncycles.com/browse.asp Check clearance items, exhausts, Honda.

I can tell you first hand you will not find a louder pipe that's "off the shelf" than the D&D pipes... I had it on my 954 and it got to the point where my friends wouldn't ride behind me!!! It's suuuuch an unbelievably deep well tuned sound. On that same note, it's not for everybody because there aren't really quiet times with D&D... it's either LOUD OR REALLY REALLY LOUD!!
The first thing I said after my bike got jacked is the next bike I have is gonna get the D&D treatment... I can assure you it will too!

The hot bodies undertail kit looks awsome and sounds like a beast. It comes with a tiny muffler that is hidden in ur undertail. People with 1000rr always coment bout my bike on bike night...sh1t most people coment on the hotbodies undertail. It is worth the money I spend. I love the clean look and not some bulky muffler hanging on the back or sticking out. It make my baby look more sexy.

I love the sound of this rc-51......but I wonder if it would sound that good on single exhaust on the 1000rr

You can't compare an RC51 and 1000RR against each other - you're talking about a V-twin and an inline 4, two drastically different engines (producing drastically different exhaust notes).

Oops! :o
There are some D&D clips on youtube for other bikes but I couldn't find any for the 1000RR.

After a month of deliberation over the D&D, Jardine dual outlet and the Hotbodies undertail exhaust, I finally ordered the Hotbodies. So, Mega I have a few questions if ya don't mind. Did you do the install yourself? How are the LED signals? Does it come with any kind of heat shielding? Had any issues of any kind with this product? How is the sound level/quality. Notice any performance gain? Thanks to all of you for your time and input!!

Sorry guys, but I have to vent. I got my HB exhaust Friday and began the install at 5:30 that evening after going to Auto Zone to get some heat reflecting tape. The kit came with a piece 4 inches wide and maybe 2.5 feet long. Try to cover the plastic surrounding the pipe with that!! Ok, not a good start for a $650 kit. Spent 45 min. applying tape so I could rest easy about heat issues and really got it covered well. Next step is mount the pipe.... Yeah. So, I locate their S bend pipe and attempt to "slip" it on the stock mid-pipe as per instructions.:confused2: Not gonna happen as they seem to share the same ID(inside diameter 1-15/16in). So, I call HB for tech support. Got Jeff on the line. Jeff says to "modify one or both pipes" or send HB the defective S bend for analysis. Did I mention I recently quit smoking and have only had 4 hours of sleep? The HB exhaust is ceramic coated inside and out so I decide to remove this at the junction to increase S bend ID. First sand paper and on to a grind wheel on my power drill. Closer, but still not happening. I end upcutting 3 slits in the end of stock mid pipe, line the 2 up and bang them together. Wiggle them into position, line up/slip on silencer and tighten all clamps. Ok, now we are getting some where. Start up bike and check for exhaust leaks. None at the joints cause I used Permatex Ultra Copper to seal them. However, it does have 2 leaks where the end cap fits in(this part is pre-assembled by HB)!! Mother F:censored:. It's 9:00pm now and I have to get ready for work. Thought I would just line up the undertail(orange, bike is red!) to see how it looks real quick. No, the silencer sits about 1/2in too low for it to line up!! OMFG!!!:pissed: I'm not new at this stuff. I've been riding 25 plus years and do all my own work plus some on the side (for $$$). People, this is the most poorly designed/constructed aftermarket POS I have EVER dealt with. Maybe my case is an anomaly? I get off work in half hour and I'll take it apart and start over. Maybe it worked itself out over night? More to follow.

So, I sent the kit back to Hot Bodies HQ in California at there cost. Got a replacement three and a half weeks later and a note saying I had inadvertantly been sent an early 04-05' kit. All went together easily this time, though I must say fit is still far from perfect. Love the look and sound though. MPG seems to be 23-25 with the low fuel light coming on around 90 miles. Seems low as I usualy got 35-40 mpg on my R1. Also have a major flat spot off idle to about 3K. Feels as if it wants to stall, then as it passes 3K, takes off like mad!! Time for a dyno tune, me thinks. Now that spring is here I can actually get some miles on it. Have not made it to 400 as of yet. FUN FUN!!!!:D

Good thing this was posted as I was seriously considering this same set-up since Taylor-made has stopped. Guess it is back to the jardine exhaust. Thanks for the info!

If you search that one it is a common thing with all 1krrs. Flapper mod (or A-tech intake) mod and a PCIII
will clear it up no problem.
That and the Hotbodies is know to reduce HPs and performance.... Just what Ive heard ;)

There are 4 reasons to buy an aftermarket exaust.
Looks
Sound
weight savings
performance gains
The first 2 are subjective, what looks or sounds good depends on what you like.
So with that said if you are looking for performance and weight savings
I would look at the following
Hight end 7 to 8 bills, Sato, Akra, Arata Will make 5 to 7 hp gain
Mid range 4 to 6 bills, Arrow, Micron, Yosh Will make 3 to 5 hp gain
All the pipes listed above will produce HP gains and save about 10 pounds over the stock exaust.
from what I read D&D is in the low end for performance and may even cause hp loss. Key word "may" I dont know.
D&D would not be my choice but thats me, in the end get what makes you happy because that is all that counts anyways
Up to 2 weeks ago I had a Micron TI slip-on and I was very happy with it but then on impulse I bought one of the last Sato TI slip-on's left
