That aint no R1 50th Anniversary, that's an 06 aright but the plastics have been switched! Frame's been polished, many bling bling crap added, that bike has seen some rough usage!
Thanks for looking out though man! :)

Be carefull with the Yamaha. I have a friend that has a new 07 R1 and has had nothing but problems with it. Not sure about the 06 R1 but the 07's have the fly by wire throttle and that seems to be were the problem lies.
Check out this web site before you pull the trigger on a yami.

I did ride his R1 and found it lacking in mid range and is very hot around the knees down to the feet. Very nimble tho..
Hope this helps

I agree BK. I know your lookin for a bike Moe, but coming here and insulting us by basically saying that our
bikes that we take so much pride in owning arent worth $hit is getting really old. There are other forums
where guys like to bash us for owning Repsols too. Maybe you would have better luck there. Your demands dont
really meet reality right now. A few years down the road you might pick up an 07 at that price but they have
only been out a year. Show a little more respect around here and maybe youll get some back. ;)

:iagree:
I am going to be buying a 07 Repsol this year that someone here has hooked me up with. Granted I will be paying probably over 10,500 for it and have it shipped from Idaho to Florida and have to pay for that, but the reason I am doing that is because I love the bike. I have always loved Honda motorcycles and sure I could have gotten a red or black one, but when I saw this Repsol I had to have it. If your not willing to pay a little more for a Repsol or even some shipping to have it sent to you from somewhere far away then why even bother asking everyone in the forum what we think when all of us here love Repsols and would pay that extra little bit just to have one. Heres my :twocents: If you are not 100 percent sure that you want to buy a Repsol, then buy something else instead of asking everyone here what they think you should do. You should be able to decide for yourself and not have us tell you what you should buy.

I am insulted about the $100 comment anyway, there are some damn fine people in this forum that would find you one for free if you treat us right .....This is BK'S Leader of the Banned Forum and I am not feeling you are one of the Banned, in fact more like Dime a Dozen.
Sorry if I spoke outta place BK. Just don't have a lot of Patience for :bs:

i agree with you on that. i got a friend who has a yamaha r1....to many problems.
also...i read an article that yamaha tanks, after a crash and if the tank gets scratch....it can get broken easily. not only that but i can create a fire burning your ride. i think, ama or some other organization.....was requesting that all yamahas required some sort of protection on the point corners of the tanks..... i think the bikes on question were from 2004 to 2007 r6 and r1....i could be wrong. if you have questions....i can probably look for my report and get back to you if u want me to.

Okay so i tried ignoring this thread after you guys started bashing yamahas and blah blah...but enough is enough...
The Yamaha R1 is a better bike in alot of aspects compared to the Honda! It handles better, its got alot more power in the top end, it sits a little taller (i'm 6'1), dives in quicker, suspension is great...etc etc.
Now on the other hand the Honda Repsol is a great bike too, the engine is pretty much bullet proof, the numbers Honda publishes are always true - so the buyer knows what he's getting, the sit lower (good for many people), have more power (torque) in the lower and middle rpms compared to the Yamaha R1.
To each his own...
But before bashing a bike atleast get your facts straight! The R1 never had fire issues or tank issues. Heck even the fly by throttle issues is a measley issue! It only bothers people that wheelie alot and the sensor kicks in which in some cases even kills the engine!
I race Yamaha's and know that only the 2006-2007 R6 have the fire issue with tank, basically if you lowside hard enough to where the tank comes off, there's a good chance the bike will catch on fire. They have a tank slider/protector for that though which works fine. But that issue was limited only to the 2006-2007 R6.

This topic is no different than the Ford vs. Chevy vs. Dodge topic. Everyone has a different opinion and that's all they are, opinions.
All four of the "big 4" bike manufacturers make nice bikes. Sure, there are subtle differences, and in some cases, big differences (like the new Kawi's claimed horsepower rating).
But they're all nice bikes. This is nothing more than a bunch of unnecessary drama.
Now if it were inline 4 sport bikes vs. Harleys, that's a different story... ;)

Wouldn't the comparison between a modern in line 4 and a v twin with push rods also be opinion based...each motor is designed for different uses.:confused2:

I was going to buy the anniversary edition but they want to much money for it. If you are still collecting then San Juan Capistrno Yamaha has it on display.
I like Yamaha's for a long time before other people did but now there are too many (same as WRX). It's more of a track by though (cheaper parts to) and I like the cady ride of the CBR for the street. Would never buy a GSXR again and talk about doime a dozen.

You just don't get it do ya?
We're talking about R1s and CBR1000rrs here.
What does the R6 have to do with that? You keep on bringing up issues with the 2006-2007 R6, which is relevant to the topic.
IF you would like to continue, then i'd be glad to discuss the numerous issues with the CBR600rrs from 03-07! Like for example lousy battery, terrible mpg, lacking top end power, chatter issues on track with stock suspension, etc etc.
Again let's keep it to R1s and CBR1000rrs.
