SWEET BIKE!!

Are you using some sort of special shooting mode, some sort of filter?

The pics look surreal, almost photoshopped.

I'm not saying they are by any means, I know you've got those bikes. The pics just have a unique feeling to them...

Thank you all! I love this forum. You guys are high class!

I went for a 2 hour ride today on the new 1098. Here's my experience:

WOW, what a dream machine. It rides much much better than my 748 Ducati. Seven years of technology better!!

The 1098 is my favorite bike so far. It feels like a Ferrari on two wheels. I love the rumble. I was surprised that it rides smoother and shifts smoother than my Japanese bikes. Ducati's has done an awesome job!!!! I'm on a waiting list for a 1098S model :).

Got a lot of thumbs up on the road too. I was surprised, even got thumbs up from chicks.

Don't get me wrong though, the Repsol is still in my heart :). I still stare at her everyday.

Chris,

Yes on photoshop. I'm a sports photographer as well so I like to photoshop here and there. It's just my signature to blur out stuff on purpose to break up the typical out the camera images. No problem and nothing taken personally. I'll share some of my pics later. I shoot Pro Hockey, Pro Baseball, and NHRA.

Thanks for being so kind guys. Again, the Repsol guys are at a higher class than your typical SS bike owners.

Dry clutch on those bikes right? Does the sound bother you at all?

Nice bike though!

Dakine
January 13th, 2008, 04:06 PM
The clutch is actually louder now after I installed an aftermarket clutch cover since it's got more openings to cool the clutch. Got a new red pressure plate for looks. The clutch sound doesn't bother me (at first it did) because the new exhaust and the twin rumble could be heard over the clutch :). I love the thumping from the cam as well.

The weird thing is the manual calls for a minimum of 95 octane. We only get 91 octane here in California. We do get race fuel of 110 octane but I don't plan running that :D.

I just love the thump it makes. Reminds me of a muscle car :).

Seriously, kick a$$ bike dude. Sat on one not to long ago. That's the closest I'll get to owning one, LOL.

I may get flamed for this, but I saw another post where you're looking for a second 07 Repsol. Might I ask why? :confused2:

You seem to have a bit of discretionary income to splurge and buy whatever bike(s) tickles your fancy, so why buy two of the same bike?

I'd spring for an MV Augusta or Aprilia Mille R or some other unique bike to add to the mix...

Just my 2 cents...

Chris,

I'm also looking for a 07 Repsol.

Why buy two of the same bike? It's called OCD (Obsesive Compulsive Disorder) :D.

It's like having an 05 and 07 Repsols.

It's a hobby, there's no logic. It's similar to my wife having 30 purses. I now can't tell her...."You only need one honey." :D

My hobby habits don't make sense to all so no worries, I'm used to it.

Nice collection, If I had your income I'd do the same. In fact I'd probably have to make a special garage to house all the bikes I bought. To bad my income with 2 kids will only allow me to have at most 2, for now. :D

Are you sure you wouldn't like an '05 to round out the collection. Ignacio still has his '05 for sale with Nickey's signature on it. :)

He'll, if my wife would let me I'd have to '05 Repsols in my garage. :)

Big Kahuna,

That's a NICE 05! I would buy that bike today if I hadn't had an 05. That's a great price for that bike! I'm actually looking for an 07 just to have both years, Rossi and Hayden :). This way, I don't have to get into the debate which is a better year :D. Although, I'm a Rossi [cough] fan. Though, I was really happy for Hayden in 2006!

Again, thanks for the info!

Jason,

Thank you!

I had asked this before but I just want to make sure:

Does someone know the sproket tooth count on the 05 vs. the 07?

I want to change tooth count on my 05 to match the 07.

Thank you!

Not sure what it is on the 07 but the 05 is stock 16 front and 41 for the rear.

If you change the gearing on an 05 to 15/43 it will have the same pull as the 07 however each gear will be much shorter and you'll be reaching for 7th gear occasionally . These were my observations when I did it to my 04 :D

Would it work if I were to change the big sprocket ONLY to 42 or 43 and leave the smaller sprocket stock at 16 on the 2005 Repsol? Or, would I have to change both sprockets to make a proper combination at 15/43?

Thank you

Less one tooth on the front sprocket is roughly equivalent to +3 on the back . My 04 had 16/40 so I had added approx 6 teeth. Then while your at it you can go for the 520 chain conversion instead of the standard 530 its a slightly narrower chain with sprockets to suit , and you have less rotating mass.
Changing gearing and a 520 conversion can make a huge difference to torque , my 04 was popping serious power wheelies after this mod , I loved it , don't forget if you change gearing you need to get a speedo healer or equivalent.

2005 is 16/41, 2007 is 16/42. Don't go down in front AND up in back, it will wheelie like hell but your revs will be kinda high on the highway. Will feel like 5th gear all the time.

Aussierepso7
January 31st, 2008, 05:37 AM
If you have the money go the 16/43 with a set of Cz's I can't recommend them enough... On the 05 I would go 15/41 or 42 if you want a wheelie beast. I went 15/42 on my 07 and took it off to much, but the Cz/16/43 has more pick up with out loosing so much top end... go the 520 conversion if you don't dump the clutch alot otherwise you will be chewing up chains and sprockets!!!!
Just my :twocents:
By the way if your OCD where the Ohlins, Bst's, Ect ect ect on the Repsol?

and Nice bikes mate:eek:
