Here's the tricolore my dad ordered from AMS motorsports in Texas. Arriving next week. The rear stand already in the garage for it looks lonely. He's a hard core Ducatista...1995 916, 1996 900SS, 2001 996SPS, and now the culmination...

I'd like to try one but wouldn't consider trading my Honda for one I'd have to have something to ride while the duc is broke down or in the shop.

I'll start by saying....I love my Repsol.
However, with all the bikes I've ridden, the 1098 is my favorite bike. It handles and rides sooooo well. Today I've taken a turn at 120 mph where I wouldn't try with any of my other bikes. The handling is amazing with confidence.
The 1098 is smooooth! Ducati has done a great job balancing the twin. My Suzuki and Honda liter bikes vibrate more. Yes, even my 2007 CBR1000.
I'm not prejudice to brands as I simply love the sport and have owned almost all of them. Just sharing what I've experienced.
If ya'all get a chance to ride one, do it! It is my favorite bike (to ride).
Congrats on your dad's new Tri-Color 1098.

couldnt he wait for the 1098R?????
as for rubenz... sorry mate.. the 1098 are quite comforrtable to ride.. & i can say that after doing a 300km trek with a mate who was on a 1098 ... in fact he was a lot more comfortable than i was on my repsol
the only thing about ducs i dislike.. is .
1 they are twins
2 they are like having a toothpick between your legs
yeha yeah.. i know donna is used to that being married to dave.. but personally.. i prefer a big penis extention like my repsol between mine

Ergos are based on the individual and how that person fits on the bike. If you immediately sit on any bike and feel uncomfortable, it effects your ability to adapt to the bike. It can be done, it just may take a bit longer. I love the look of the R-1 and the 1098S. They look very similar. I've sat on both and both were very uncomfortable to me. Even the smaller R-6's were to crotch crunching for me. :yikes:
As far as my comfort level has been on sport bikes (which is almost an oxymoron, comfortable sportbike) the GSX-R's and the CBR's were the two that fit me. To each their own. ;)

Judging by the tires, it looks like Mark already took it for a spin :D.
Mark,
Wipe down the bike and tires :D.
To each his own: The 1098 is my favorite bike to ride :). 3 hours rides, no problems. Two weeks ago, I took a turn at 120 mph which I would not try on my other bikes. It gives you that solid feel! Again, to each his own. The GSXR and Honda's are great bikes as well! My preference, the 1098.

Deciding whether I should sell my H1 and buy a DESMOSEDICI RR!
This is sick!!!
YouTube - Ducati Desmosedici RR: First Ride
The good thing is, they sold out their production run and you can't get one. Whew, just saved me $80k. :D. I would sell my H1 for the Desmosedici RR in a heart beat!
