In all honesty (yes I know you guys are Honda Repsol Pro), this is the most crappiest handling bike i have ever thrown my leg over. I'm hopinh its the ****ty Dunlops or the setting of the bike.
Since i've already bought it I'm going to put Michelins on it and adjust the suspension a little and give it another shot.

wow that's pretty harsh - I thought it handled better than anything I had been on, I actually test rode a '07 black and Red RR first and was amazed, I felt just like I was on my old 600 with 2x the power (they actually weighted the same, had the same wheelbase, seat height and everything else was really close)
I am far from a pro but have ridden from the old late 80's ninja 600s, FZR 600 and 1000's of the 90's, Honda F2/3/4/4i, Busa, and a couple of Harley's just to try em out for the hell of it and this RR was by far the best overall package yet for me. I guess I should try a duc or something, but it never seemed a realistic purchase and only known a couple of guys to ride em and they weren't in a mood to loan them to me.
Mine came with Pirelli Diablos - that could make a little difference, but they slip a little if you get on it too quick out of a corner too, not been my favorite tire but it works
Nice bike hope you get it set up to your liking
welcome and stuff

ok guys..
i think you all need to step back a little here
black widow... i agree with you
we all know that i know how to ride & i ride pretty damn hard whether it be on adams mum or on any bike
this was was of the 1st posts i posted about my repsol when i got it...
We don’t know how good we have it sometimes
as lots know I had an 05 CBR1000RR since new & sold it to buy a new 07 repsol fireblade well this is about the point I notice things
I have always had my bikes maintained to the highest level by MDH Tuning, you would think… buy a brand new bike & its going to be awesome…wrong answer….5 days &
300kms on the clock.. I have no faith in the brakes, they have way to much lever for my liking & really have no faith in them….I don’t even want to ride the bloody thing
The engine is not even close to smooth & the suspension is all over the place
This in total gives me no confidence in the bike at all.
If I didn’t know what Mark at MDH can do to the bike I would think “oh well.. that’s how it is just have to get used to it” but 1 quick call to him & I get.. “ok.. we will whack some braided lines on & give you the brakes you are used too”… suspension.. “yup.. got all the settings from the 05.. we will start there because you know how it feels & make adjustments from there”
We will also sort the smoothness issue out at the 1000km service
I didn’t realize just how much of a difference the time & effort that MDH spent getting my 05 right for ME had made to the bike…
The only downside is now I cant even buy a brand new bike without picking every fault in it & having to make the bike feel perfect for me because close enough is not good enough.
When it comes to my bikes… its all I have between life & death so as far as I am concerned I have every right to make it perfect… sure I could accept dealer services at dealer prices but it comes back to the old analogy YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET!!!!
To me… I am happy to pay for the service I get from MDH & now.. after buying another brand new bike & realizing exactly what difference he can make to a bike it has just reiterated why he does all the work on my bikes
Roll on the weekend when I know that I can finally have some faith in the new machine
HH
ok.. well there you have it.. i hated mine when i got it also
black widow... get it set up properly & you will love it...

I have to agree on this too, until I put 2ct michilens and Race-tech suspension & braided lines plus set the suspension to my liking I was not happy .:D But I dont think it was the worst handling bike from the start.......I will say that my wife's repsol had dunlop's on it when we bought it and it handled like ****....
I am not exactly sure how well HH rides adam's mom, but I hope it is better than he rides his repsol. I am for certain that if he rides her as slow as he rides his repsol he gets lapped quite a bit.......
Only other thing I could recommend is getting rid of the 07 and buying the ORIGINAL REPSOL 2005 HONDA CBR 1000RR-R REPSOL EDITION :evilgrin::evilgrin::evilgrin::evilgrin:

yes but have your mods been tuning & setup or just more power & bling????
personally i feel until you have had a bike that is setup for you then you wont know the difference....if you have never had this done then yeah i agree what comes out of the crate is fine... you dont know any different
setup & tuning is just the beginning.... i can go to a dealer & get a $200 service... instead i prefer to spend an average of over $1000 on a service because if i get on my bike & there is 2psi less in the tyres than i am used to then i know about it because the bike has a completely different attitude than it should
maybe its because i have a feel for my bike & i know when something is not right due to knowing what feels right when it is all perfect ... maybe its the way i ride it & the feedback i get from pushing it... maybe its because of all the trackwork & knowing what feels good for my style of riding..
all i do know is at 300kms i refused to ride the repsol till it was setup properly & to my liking...
it probably comes down to the way a dealer delivers a bike.. but when your front preload is different from left to right then to me.. its not set up & it shows in the performance of the bike

The main complain from the get go on the 04-07 under race situations or even spirited riding is that she either doesn't like to turn or is hard to turn. Front springs on the 07 are better than 05 but still short of perfect. Ohlins 1.05s work well. Do not add rear ride height to make her turn in quicker as this is one of those bikes that handle better the flatter they are. You might end up with a bit of a headshake at exits and high speed. Also crappy rear end traction. Tires will help, especially with the Michelins. Tire pressure is important in all bikes, pretty important on these also. Once set up she becomes really easy to ride.

I agree that the bike should be made for the rider and not the other way around.
However, Widow has pretty much done nothing but bash the CBR since he joined the site. I guess I look at it like just being able to own a bike, let alone one that is this friggin' awesome straight off the floor......is a gift. I have alot of buddies that either can't afford, the wife veto'ed, or just can't ride sport bikes but would give up one of the berries for a bike like this.
I have to agree with Aussie. Widow, why join a site and ask a bunch of questions to guys whom you already know the answer? It's like asking HH if he likes riding mommas.
We love our bikes Widow, whether they are completely stock or if they are race ready. If you don't like your's sell the damn thing and go back to Yamaha land. You've already got the clown suit on you might as well go back to their circus. If your a Yami guy, ride a Yami.

I guess most of you guys lack balls or confidence in saying what your true experience is. It's a crappy handling bike - plain simply put.
It's just like saying your girl's fat - plain simply put. I guess you guys would deny that fact and continue to ride her and not do anything about it. Well i'm sorry I'm not like that, I express my opinion and I will tell my girl to get her fat arse over to the gym and will work it out with her to where she loses weight.
Similarly after spending $9,000  on a bike, I expect it to handle "better" if not atleast to par with a $7,000 Yamaha R6. :confused2:
I'm not sure why you guys question my riding skills, or the so called "Clown suit" which most of the Repsol riders spent races staring at from the back . I think by HondaHoon & DaveRepsol agreeing to my conclusion of the bike being crappy "handling" should have been enough. But if it makes a big difference in your life -
I'm a Motorcycle Instructor for RideSmart (biggest track day organization in TX) aswell as Texas Track Days (newest track day organization in TX with 38 events for the year 2008). I also race motorcycles in 3 different organizations ranging from bikes like NSR, RS, CRF100 upto an R6.
So trust me when I say I know how to ride bikes - people would'nt pay me (not track time), to have me instruct Level 1 & Level 2 students how to ride fast/safe/well on the track. :o
Now having gotten that out of the way - why would you guys make your opinion based on a magazine's review? Is that 'some' of you guys do it? You got no common knowledge of the bike or riding skills to make your own judgement? I'm sorry I make my own judgement - god knows most of those journalists are experienced riders equipped with the best tires at the best tracks with a whole team of techs on stand by to make any adjustment to the bike to get a good review. Heck - most magazines will say positive things about the manufacturer that advertises the most in their magazines!
I don't want you guys to think i said this is a crappy bike. I did'nt say that - what I said was that this is the most crappiest 'handling' bike. Its something about its geometry that's not right. It maybe just this specific model. The problems I have with the bike are:
* Does not turn in quick enough (to my liking).
* Coming out of a turn, it likes to run wide (no issues with my riding skill, or the road surface - have ridden the same turns gazillion times with half a dozen bikes!).
* Something about the way the bike sit also does'nt seem right to me (this may be coz i'm used to Yamaha's sitting up soo high in the front).
* Overall its a very confidence shattering bike for the rider who rides in a highly spirited manner, (tires!)
There are other issues aswell that I think will go away (hopefully) with proper suspension settings and Michelins on the bike.
Thanks for your help diel11, you saved me some time and money. I was going to adjust the rear height - but from your experience i'm taking it won't make the bike turn in any quicker. :)

I would seriously spend the $110 on the ohlins front springs or at least let Jim Cambora look at the bike. If you do ridesmart you know him. The front tire change will really wake up the initial turn in also. Mine came with Corsas and it was unbelievable how much better she got with Michelins. The running wide on exit is a rear suspension/chassis attitude which most likely you know. Keep in mind that this thing will not turn like your 600 no matter what you do to her. Those R6s ride on rails on the track, great bikes. Not sure if you have raced a 1000cc before but they are a bit different to ride fast. Good luck man.

Yea I know Jim Cambora, my race bike has a motor built by him along with suspension work. :D I'm going to be heading over to Cresson in the next 48 hours and i may take the Repsol with me and see if I can get Jim Cambora or Roger Albert to do something about the handling.
You got any links to the Ohlins springs you talk about? I promised my self I did'nt want to spend any extra $$$ on the handling or performance of this bike since I wanted to keep her as a street rider/occasional track rider - but I guess not.

I use the 1.00. They really help mine, even though I have a 05 and the springs were worse than 07. They usually run about $110 or so and if you know how to take the forks apart you can do the work yourself. I ended up with an Ohlins rear shock also and the handling problems are pretty much gone.
Like you said, I would talk to Jim and see what he says. he might be able to do something with or without the springs to get you going. And get the michelins on.

Similarly, my Ducati 1098s rides much better than my standard 1098. And they said that I wouldn't notice the difference on the street. WRONG!!
The 1098s has got the Ohlins suspension. It was worth it to have paid more money for the 's' model. Well, in the Ducati world, that was $5k. extra :D

Ok first off I dont know **** ,but I'm learning and really do enjoy my bike to the best of my abilities.. What I need to know is where can I find a place near Long Beach California that can set up my suspension for the street and another place that can make a map for my power commander. Right now I'm using a map from 1000rr net ... The bike is a rocket for me and I keep reading books and trying out what I have learned on corners that I know. In any case If I hadnt jacked up my knee in September at work and it hadnt rained so much I would have more miles on her. At least I'm back to work Light restricted duty (Yes HH that means I can only lift one donut box at a time).. Well end of my pointless comment, Time to eat. I guess most of you guys lack balls or confidence in saying what your true experience is. It's a crappy handling bike - plain simply put.
You know as well as we all do that 90% of the members on this site (hell, any riders, in general) will never ride their bike within a million miles of it's true potential.
Asking a mundane everyday street rider (y'all don't get offended, I'm in this category) to critique the handling of their bike to the same level as someone that races on a regular basis and really, really understands the dynamics of a bike's suspension isn't really fair.
Most people will immediately go on the defensive when you log into a Repsol (CBR) forum and bash the Repsol (CBR). I understand you're not bashing the bike, but it's handling. Not trying to get nitpicky.
Just stating that I (as well as most street riders) will never use this bike to it's full potential and probably couldn't really tell a big difference between an R1, ZX-10, GSXR1k, and the CBR. Simply because I don't have enough seat time pushing these bikes to the limit and learning what makes them behave the way they do.
I for one love the CBR because it does exactly what I need it to do. It gets me around town in a jiffy, (somewhat) comfortably, extremely reliably, and looks f***ing amazing doing it.
If I wanted the most wicked corner carving machine I could buy for a reasonable price, I sure as hell wouldn't be riding any of the 1000 cc inline 4's.

Regardless if you think the CBR is the best handling bike or the worst handling bike compared to a Yamaha. Or if you think the CBR does not look as good as a Yamaha. The fact is that the majority of us love to ride CBR's no matter what might be wrong with them, and the reason we get a Repsol is because we want to be Gods among meer peasants.

So you're a track day instructor.... Your statement re:your CBR smacks of ignorance. You went to the track without setting up the bike first? You just trusted the dealer set-up? Sounds more like a newbie move to me. I don't have an 07, mines an 05, so I cannot tell you what to specifically change. Tires would be the first concern. Of all people, with your "credentials" I'd think you'd know that. The CBR is very sensative to the front profile. I'm no pro but I've got plenty of seat and track time under my belt, CMRA, WERA, and LSTD events and a few private track days too, not to mention about 400k on the street. It sounds like you didn't bother to even set up your bike. My 05 is a very sweet handling machine, i've worked with both Patrick at MC Unlimited and Andy at Metriccycles setting it up. At the track Bridgestone 002's are my preference.

HH I didnt know you had any style whatsoever!!!, And to blame it on us Yanks is an outrage, Global warming is just a natural cycle of the earth traveling around the sun, even some of the ECO-Tree huggers are starting to admit that, as for Weather although it has screwed with my ability to ride we are having some great Rain and snow in our Mountains more then I have seen in years so put that in your pipe and smoke it... Nice to hear you got your license back , Is there any kind of emotional stability test that goes with that???:D

im 5'6 h, 145pds,,,,,when i got the 07repsol and after breakin 300miles,, took it to the canyon and already scrape both rods vertically located below the pegs with factory setting suspension and factory corsa tires,,,,and until now never bothered adjusting the sag (but have to removed them cause their bent and ugly),,,,,i guess if ur more than 200pds ??????adjustment is necessary,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if ur six footer this bike is kind a cramp,,,,R1 is the best bet. but an 08 like mine:p

well in that case you arent getting your ass & body off the bike enough
the object is to move your body off the bike & keep the bike as upright as possible
sheeesh scraping the hero knobs is that close to scraping your knee, elbow, side & head as you are sliding down the road after your bike
HH
ps.. IMHO the R1 is twitchy as **** & personally i dislike riding something that wants to buck me off faster than adams mum whenever i call his sisters name everytime i twist the throttle

yeah thats the general idea 'hang-off', in this case i just tuckin my knees, and trying to run the edge of tires..i should have took some pictures before i replaced them but here are the so called hero rods
( if u have long legs ur knee pucks would scrape first thats the case on the other rider im with 07cbr1000 (not repsol))

dont worry bro 'no flame here' just wanna share how this repsol handles really well and not trying to show-off neither. Never felt it was sliding or giving me a low or high side or rear tire come off loose---it was a confidant riding this bike . it may not be necessary for u but definitely for me ,,,on how much lean angle before it breaks loose,
and defintiely how much skill and guts u have as rider and not as a poser,,,
sorry no accident here (knock on wood) just dropped the bike in the driveway dazz all frame saver saves the fairing,,,:D
just try it on a race track and u know what i meant!!!!!!scrape those rods, and picture frame them as a trophy,,thats what ill do hehehe,,,, ok mate
im not trying to tell evryone to do it, but only the one with track skill and experienced

ummmm track skill & experience...
hmmm riding 20yrs racing 15yrs here
& stll i have no inclination to attempt it
& its not the sliding sensation i am taking about.. its the instant no controled highside you can get from pushing that far...
as for the no accident statement.. bad kharma mate...
there are 2 types of riders in my book
those that have crashed & those that are going to crash

congrats on ur experienced and experticed, no offense
crashing and about to crash is not in my vocabulary, i didnt buy this bikes for that,
but aware of the consequence riding this bikes speed and lean angle!!
knowledge, guts, skill, and excitement everytime i ride
and i always ask God my passenger.........
scraping those hero rods is not even the maximum lean angle on this repsol
with corsa tires
not sure how u ride, as i was saying no comment;)

I did this once on the right side by accident, going thru an intersection quickly making a left turn. The next car of oncoming traffic got confused or awe struck by my AWESOME CBR and stopped in the middle instead of going thru the intersection had to shorten my turn radius a whole bunch. Then the car in the left lane ahead of me suddenly jammed thier brakes I HATE MINI VANS. Something about them I just dont get along well with minivan drivers they stop to short constantly. I was already moving to quick and just exiting my extremley short sharp left when I had to stop ultra quick and dive into the right lane to avoid having the car behind me run me down. I guess going from the fast short left to a full blown emergency stop while diving right was just to much for the stock set up YIKES.. I even scraped the end of my boot enough to pinch my toes under the stock foot pegs. WOW so now we have some new friends OHLINS, GALFER, RIZOMA

LoL,
Just logged back in after a few months.
I'm ROFL at all the critiques at the body positioning...
If any of you arse hats ever road a mini - you'd know how much different your body position has to be on a mini (compared to a big bike).
Maybe I should post a picture of me on my CRF100 dragged a knee - why don't you guys comment on that :p , once your done I'll tell you how with the same style I came first in my class ;)
