The bike rode realy strong wednesday night, the tempature was 50 degress so wheelies in 2nd gear with a snap of the wrist were big fun!!! I did not ride thursday and friday morning when I started her up it was a little slow to turnover???? No big deal I went in the house put on my gear and when I came back out like almost 10 mins later the temp was about 175 degrees and I rode off. It was about 10 miles down the road when I noticed while sitting at a traffic light the idle dipped down to almost 9 tenths maybye 1K. The usual is between 12 and 13 tenths. I thought maybye I got bad gas or the air filters were dirty so I did the man thing and cracked the throttle hard for a while , you know the old wives tail about get the carbon cleaned out LOL After 15 mins of good RPM'S I slowed my pace , came to a light, and the idle dipped again hmmm.... I pulled over into a dunkin donoughts and while it was running.. barely... I adjusted the throttle screw and the idle came back up to between 11 and 12 tenths I waited a minute or two and the idle semes ok??? I scratched my head and thought what is wrong not once in over 18 months did I need to screw with the idle adjustment. A short time later later I was rolling like 65 mph and I thought well I have been riding long enough since the idle adjustment let me pull in the clutch and coast to see what happens. The idle dips to 9 tenths and then the dashboard bilnks and bike stalls WOA $HIT not cool I let the clutch and and regain ingnition carefully I hope. SO now I am under power again but the bike will not idle???? Even after another 10 mins of riding and I thought that would have charged the battery... thinking I had a problem like a year ago when my battery died same symptoms.. well sort of but anyways the bike stalls at the next light. I have to jump off and push start. Ya know do the old heave ho over the saddle throw into 1 st gear and get the girl fired up again.. WOW forgot how dangerous that is wiht a tall seat almost did a wobble and biff $HIT DAMN *UCK . AT any rate the honda dealer was not far away and there my girl sits for a week. They will replace the stator unit that is sealed wit the windings ($380) 2 hours labor at $80 a pop WOA well they were much closer than tried to ride my hurt girl 45 miles home so they gave me a ride to work, checked in the bike and said well the charging system is a 6 year waranty from 2005 and that my VIN number is not on the list for the recall so HONDA picked up the tab almost $600 and she will be done like Thursday. Oh I forgot to mention when the dashboard display went down and then came back on the red light was on , the one on the right top corner that looks like engine failure or oil trouble light.... Just thought I would pass on the info in case this happens to anybody

"Hi'ya doin' fellow Repsoler's". I too have experienced this same stator problem with 2 Hondas. !st time with my ex- 929. Now this time with my 2005Repsol 1000 with only 4,000 miles on it. There really were no symtoms except my idle was unusually a little higher than usual. Does anyone know what the deal is with Honda? Is Honda resorting to using cheap parts or what???? Does anyone know how to circumvent this evidently common problem with these stator units. Is there such a thing as some highly modified or upgraded stator unit that will not f@#k up. Please let me know ASAP. I'm startin' to wonder if Honda is just another cheap ass company that's puttin' out sh#@$$y bikes.....cause one should'nt have to replace such a thing after only being 4 months on the road. Thank you much, Rooster57

Yes there are "performance" stators that you can find on fleabay... Mine died and I tried one of those.. Come to find out, my bike almost caught fire as my stator wires were smoking bad. Total meltdown. Went and bought a new stator from the dealer and it came with a new "flywheel?" Slapped that in and it totally fixed the problem. I didnt know that the dealer would have warrantied the part and labor. I had 3500 miles on her at the time and was prepping for the track so I didnt have time to wait anyway. As far as the bikes being cheap crap, I think they all have recalls pretty much. I had 2 R6s and an R1 before this, 2 of which had recalls, and my buddy always said that Hondas dont fail. Right after he sold it to me, freaking thing burnt out haha.

Are you talking about the original stator or the aftermarket stator?
