Greetings boyz,
Well, most of you know that I am working on getting the Limited Nicky Hayden decals reprinted for we Forum folks. More to come on that as it materializes.

I did not get the standard sponsor kit with my bike and am in the position to finally order one (controlled part). However, something popped in to my head that I wanted to get some feedback on.

I think the Repsol bike looks better with the decal set on it, more of that real race bike look. What I'm thinking is, most of the sponsor decals that come with the bike, I don't really use those products. I was thinking of putting together my own decal set of brands and products I use. You know like shoei, alpinestars, joerocket, (keep the brembo decal ;)), K&N, yoshimura, etc. just to name a few. I haven't decided completely, but you get the idea.

So, what do you guys think? Would it take away from the authenticity of the Repsol bike look? Would it kind of be "out of the box" or more of my own personal look? Need some feedback..............:confused2:

Personally I would stick to the original decal pack...as the bikes get older they will become more collectable and the closer to original they are the better. That being said, it's up to you. Making it "your own" does have a certain appeal. I know it's not much help but thats how I see it...

i feel you should go for it. Only True repsolians will know what stickers should be there! the look is sweet as i am waiting to put mine on here this spring so it warms up more.

My bike didn't come with them as i am the second owner but going to try it out and if i don't like it i can just pull them off!

I am not for sure if the repsols are going to trun into anything of value as stated as being a collectable. but we'll see!!!

I voted for buying the factory kit. That way, no matter what, you have it with the bike as long as you

own it. I would copy the set and then use the ones you want to out of it and then put "your" sponsor

decals on it.

I'm a self-professed perfectionist, so I vote for the original "factory" kit.

I totally see your point and wouldn't fault you one bit if you choose to install your own decals. If done well and in good taste, it could be pretty cool.

The factory decals are custom tailored for our bikes. They fit the bike well from a scale standpoint and are (except for the blue GAS decal) all white. So there's a bit of a uniform look, while still representing quite a few sponsors.

Using your own decals could introduce a multitude of colors and cause the bike to become "busy", especially if there's a wide variety of scales with the various decals.

In the end, it's your bike. Do what you want to with it and screw everyone else!

completely agree! only Scaled decals and in orginal white. But different names of actual parts on the bike wouldn't be bad. I Really like the idea!

also get the original decal set and if you do use some of the original put them in the right place and swithc out with the ones you arn't using!

I would go with the factory ones. After all this is a race replica so it should be as close to the RC211V as possible. Kind of like the 1/16 scale models you can buy except this is a rideable 1/1 scale.

go with original decals my point of view whats the point of haveing the repsol if you are going to change it might as well just get a regular cbr and paint it your way

its not like an act of congress. he is just switching out a few names of some stickers not changing repsol to ashland oil company or some **** like that.

It will not effect the look if done right. and honestly other than us who will know its not right?

I think it is a great idea....I would still get the original stickers from Honda just so ya have them....I was debated putting a few differnt stickers on mine, but the wife said no way.....

i just bought some RC211V decals to put on the bike...I will pull off the CBR racing decal and put those in the same area.....I also bought some new #69 stickes for the front of the bike....

I prefer the ones that come with the bike, but it is your bike to design so do what will make you happy. At the end of the day it is your bike not everyone elses.

I just put on the 211 decals, (post #52, in Nicky Hayden Decal Thread). I didn't remove the CBR racing. I thought it worked well there, take a look I put up some pics. I like your idea though, definitely more realistic to put it there.

Everything said, can you still get the factory kit ? I ordered one from Y.O.T, about a month ago, called the other day and was told it's still not in. I had the same thing happen with my spare '05 kit. I wound up waiting almost two full months before the dealer finally found out the kit was discontinued:mad::mad:

Okay,
I like what you guys are saying about the factory set. Not only that but the left side underbelly of the bike has much less to work with then the right. So, I think I'm going to pick and choose between some factory and some of my own. First one I did was instead of the GAS jeans logo (does anybody even wear these??) on the windshield and the front tire cover, I've decided to use Alpinestars Logos instead. Here are the first 2 and the big one is on it's way. Once installed, more pics to follow. Whatcha' think?

Again, thanks for all of the advice. :D

Looking good brother. :D Set that bike up the way you would like it to look considering you are the one riding it.
I did see a Gas jeans company one time when we went to England on a deployment. They are pretty expensive.

I like it. Cool decals.

But I'll play devil's advocate and say I also like the contrast between the GAS decal's blue color and the orange color of the upper fairing... :p

And now here's the other catch, companies that normally supply rider's gear don't advertise on the bike itself but the rider's leathers. So while a rider may be sponsered by Shoei, you will hardly ever see a Shoei decal on the bike. That being said, its your bike and really up to you on how it looks. :)

I just got my large A-star decal for the front fender. My belly fairing decals are on order and yes I got some of the original sponsors decals. They're just a little different. :D

Anywho, one of the friggin' corners bubbled when I put it on:mad:
but, I think I was able to salvage it and it looks good. I should hopefully have it completely done within the next 2 weeks.

Also,
My decal maker is sending me 2 more test decals of the Nicky Hayden limited edition set. If you're interested in purchasing a set when they are done, jump over to that thread and keep an eye on it. I'll post up the new pics of those babies when I get em' this week. Until then.......
