First, and most importantly, you must spread the peanut butter evenly on both pieces of bread. This will keep the bread from getting soggy and essentially seal in the jelly. There is a lot of dispute as to which peanut butter is best. Jif, Skippy, Peter Pan, smooth or crunchy, it's really up to you. I chose Skippy as it was readily available in my pantry.

Next, you must group the jelly in the middle. Don't worry, the jelly will move around during the next phase and properly present itself throughout the sandwich. Let me clarify here, when I refer to "jelly", what I really mean is "strawberry jelly". If you'll making your PB&J with anything else, then you're just not doing it right.

Lastly, you must gently press the sandwich on all four sides to create the peanut butter seal needed to preserve the jelly. (hehehehe, get it?... preserve.) Make sure you don't press too hard as we don't want to create a jelly breach at this point.

There you have it, the perfect PB&J sandwich! Here's a tip. Store you bread in the fridge so it will be nice and firm during the spread phase. The bread will slowly come to room temperature during the remaining process and be ready for consumption in a matter of minutes!

Now it's time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. (hehehehe... fruits.) Personally, I like to start on a corner and work my way through the sandwich. But what works for me may not work for everyone else.

Have fun with it, and make it your own... But remember, if you're not using strawberry jelly, then you're just not doing it right!

NO NO NO, only GRAPE jelly will do. Strawberry is too feminine, and any jelly that is homemade, well is that sanitary?

How do you think they used to make it in the old days...?
We extract the juice and make the jelly, all at home... making me hungry just thinking about it!
And LOL at this thread... sheer greateness!

At least you got the peanut butter right...only Skippy Creamy for me...
And the jelly...it's gotta be Smucker's Grape...not just any grape jelly will do...
And the bread...white bread is too homogenous for me... give me wheat!
I use the double thick peanut butter on one side technique...and half a jar of grape jelly on the other side...if the grape jelly ain't dripping out when I bite...there's not enough.
And if you really want to get messy...fry that puppy...YUM!!!
