I know you guys are going to jump all over this, go ahead, cause the mechanic and I are feeling really stupid right about now. Unlike my mechanic, at least I can always use the line “I must have had a blonde moment” :pound:

So, this is what happened; I went to the shop to visit my Repsol and while there, we fired up the bike….10 minutes goes by idling…..I go for a good rip…..come back, and let it idle another 10 minutes. Low and behold, the whole heating issue seems to have corrected itself :confused2:

The only conclusion we can surmise is that the packing just needed to be burned out?!?!? :idk: Still, not sure why it would cause it to heat up enough to fry an egg on the rear seat. Oh well whatever, I’m on the road again! That’s right….look out!!!

More importantly, I just want to clarify, that this exhaust is of exceptional quality and was worth every nickel. I’m only too happy to have this product on my bike. Not only is it unique, but the rumbly, throaty sound gives me chicken skin. I think a PC III will be in my future, when I’m not so financially embarrassed.

Again, thanks for the input everyone

Wow, that is strange... At least it's working now. Have we seen pics of the new pipe yet? :confused2:

Glad it all worked out ok. Packing does compress and occasionally get "blown out". Exhausts take on (often) a whole new note at about the 30-40k miles time frame due to the packing changing with time, so it is possible you had some pre-packing. :) :confused2: :D

I am sure it feels good to have your bike back. I hate it when mine sleeps out! Go with the PCIII sooner than later. You have invested quite a bit in your bike already, so the last thing you want to do is have it run too lean.

Now go enjoy the rest of the summer!

Pics from my garage, cause it's been to cold (brrrrrr) up here to ride lately. hmmmm....maybe thats why those pipes are staying cool :confused2:

Feel free to ad these to your exhaust pic thread BK.

Just curious....are things rough in your neighborhood that you have to run a lock thru your front rim :confused2:, even though your bike is in your garage.

Now that I see the pipes we're talking about, yeah I want to say I've noticed those are hotter. Looks good.

Funny thing...now anytime I look at the left side of a 1000RR the first thing I notice is, "It'd look better with teh Nicky Mod" :D

Nice pair of guns you got there ;)

Packing shouldn't have to burn out. That would make it louder. It is possible that the oil needed to burn off. Some mufflers (like Remus) still have assembly oil on them and need to burn off which makes some smoke and smells.
