View Full Version : Cheapest place to buy a Repsol?

Hey everyone, I'm looking for the cheapest way to get a brand new 07 Repsol and I live in California. Out here the prices are pretty ridiculous. I was at Honda of Hollywood and they had 4 Repsols and sold the first 3 for $18k no lie! I couldn't believe it. I got a much cheaper quote from another dealer for $13,291 OTD. But I've seen a couple online but outta state for as low as $11,500 OTD. I did some research about bringing an out of state bike back to Cali but it must meet the emission standards. So...does anyone know if any of the other states models comply with Cali regulations? I would have it shipped or even drive it across the dang country if it was cheap enough. Thanks in advance, and sorry for such a long post.

Phew, you got my admiration on that drive! Ah, to be young again! Good luck in your quest! I can't answer your question about out of state bikes passing the CA requirements, but I unbderstand there are CA bikes and there are 49 state bikes.

Everything cost more in Cali. I think the Honda shop in Fowler, CA still has one in the showroom. Not sure what they are asking for it if it's still there. I'm going to run down there if I have time this weekend and try to see an '07 up close and personal. :)

Damn, they said they were moving their shop but I had no idea!
I used to always stop by the Sonora Honda shop when I was out enjoying the mountain roads. I'll have to make a trip out there soon to check out the new shop.

I know a dealer who has one in Iowa for $11300, Garvis Honda. They don't charge freight or setup and you pay your tax in your state. So you are looking at less than $11500 OTD with them. Obviously you still have to pay the tax later and ship the bike, not to mention it isn't a Cali model.
I remember one of the members talking about hoping his wasn't a Cali model, and he was in Idaho. Call the dealers in Idaho and see if they have a Cali model, may want to get rid of it. Good luck though, I paid $11,200 OTD for my 07.;)

Thanks everyone for your comments. Im gonna give some dealers outside California a call. Yeah, driving it back from another state would require many rest stops for sure though. I rode my FZR from Los Angeles to Oakland a couple months after I had started riding...not fun after about 2-3 hours straight, but for a Repsol I'd go through it again...and make sure I make a LOT more rest stops!

there are 3 in PA for around 11500 locally (within 50 miles of each other) DAS shipping could probably give you a quote on shipping the bike. they picked up my gsxr in my driveway and took it to florida for 500 bucks.

Brand new 07 with black wheels? What happened, did one get damaged in shipment or did someone pay them to swap them out for a set in orange. Part of owning a Repsol is have those beautiful, need-to-clean after every ride, orange wheels.;)

You could also register it out of state if you have a friend or a relative , insurance company dosent care where its registered as long as you tell them the truth about where its garaged. Yes I know there is a law that says you have to register in this state within 10 days if you are a resident but who said you cant have house at the river or vegas or some obscure swamp in the south. Politicians get away with it all the time:eek:

The one with black wheels may not be a repsol at all. Alot of dealers have done repsol graphics on bikes and they almost always have the black wheels. And no matter what, why would a dealer spend money and labor replacing wheels on a brand new 07 repsol just to be different? These bikes fly out of the showroom fast, no one in their right mind would change wheels on a repsol and risk it not selling. I wouldnt buy one with plain black wheels. Most people would not want it with regular 07 wheels instead of the orange.
I seriously doubt its real.

I would buy one with black rims, if it was heavily discounted........then I would buy some Carrozzera V6s for it.:D

Thats my point. Would a dealer take off the orange rims, put on black rims (which are not free), and then sell it for less? Even at sticker price they lose money because the black rims cost them money.
Therefore, its rediculous to even assume that it is a real repsol. Its a regular 07 that the dealer put graphics on. Nothing more.
