These jackets have been on ebay for quite a while now, I too was curious about their quality and appearance in person. I know that a few guys were selling them from the States, so the shipping was cheap.

Does anyone on the forum have one yet? Just curious...

I have ONE! I am crazy Like That. I bought gear before getting my bike. too excited I guess. Iwill post pics tonight But I have it and it is awsome. For the money, it is the closest to looking like the real jackets they wear in my opinion. The material it is made out of is NOT real leather but it is a very soft synthetic and feels a lot like a butter soft fashion leather jacket. It is supposed to be waterproof but I am not putting it to THAT test. Anyway, it comes with some decent armour in the shoulders and forearms and back. I like it a lot and was very impressed. I looked at them for a while on ebay but most of the pics were from far away. One guy listed the jacket and had super closeup pics so I could inspect the quality and It is a solid jacket. It doesn't get too cold here in Houston so I will probably wear it year round. Sorry for the long post guys. Just got excited that i could contribute FINALLY even though I don't have a bike. :D

You safe do you think the non-leather jacket will be if you hit the pavement? Is it like a windbreaker type thing or thick enough to provide some protection?

I have the Joe Rocket repsol jacket..its nice quality but tha dang arms are so frikin long. Can i get it tailored ya think?
Im bout 5'6 and have wide shoulders so they gave me this thing that fits everywhere but the frikin arms. Its so anoying that i prefer my all black Thinselate Xpert sport leather .<---awsome jacket. great quality and protection. Warm also and fits like a glove.

The arms on my jackets are long as well and I'm 6'5" and usually it's the other way around. They make them long on purpose because your arms are stretch out when grabbing the bars so they need to be a bit longer when at rest with your arms by their sides.

Mega, I bet the jacket arms fit perfect when your riding that sweet Repsol!;)

hey playa,

what size did you get?

i was looking at this jacket last year, but i'm afraid that the medium will still be too big. i am a size 38-40. i think the medium is a size 42-44?

what size are you and what size did you get?

FYI

I was just able to pick up one of these jackets for $65.00 by making an offer on Ebay.

First I offered $50.00 and they came back with $75.00 then I countered for $65.00 and they accepted.

So $105.00 total with shipping

actualy it is still too long when i ride. This is why its not very comfortable for me. It looks sweet though.
Ive been using my other jacket since my other fits so good and matches my black helmet.
My Repsol jacket is great leather and the armor is descent. Joe rocket just made the arms way to long. I paid $550 for it from the dealer since they wouldnt give me my down payment money back from when i was going to buy the only repsol i seen in person. Then i seen my bike on ebay for way cheaper and had some mods already. even with shiping came out cheaper than ther dealer.
P.s. i love my bike.

Ok guys. Sorry I have been gone so long and sorry I didn't post picks of the jacket last night. I should have some up late today. I had a yellow firstgear leather jacket and it was HEAVY and was awsome protection. This jacket doesn't offer quite as good protection because... it isnt leather. It feels like soft leather and is something to wear that will look good but I wouldn't take it to the track. It isn't as thin as something like a windbreaker but it isnt like heavy leather either but it does come with decent armour.

Since I ride in Houston, I thought of buying a mesh summer jacket. This one in my opinion is about in the middle between a mesh summer jacket and a all leather jacket as far as protection goes. Same goes for how hot you will get while wearing it too. I rode summers wearing my leather jacket down here and it was NO fun. Thats why I would say I could wear it year round out here.

JBIGELOW, Buy this jacket a size bigger than you expect you will need it.
I am 5' 10" 210 and wear a 44 regular suit and sure enough my old firstgear leather jacket was a 44 and fit perfect. Just to be on the safe side, I bought an XL Duhan and it fits perfect as well. I read that a large was equivalent to a 44 but I don't think that is true and I would have been mad as hell if I bought a Large because it would have been too small.

I don't know who exactly was selling them on ebay, but their auctions were listing Los Angeles as the shipping point. I would have never paid $40 for shipping, no offense but you got robbed. I would say $20 would even be high. I paid $10 to ship my pipe to me just a month or so ago.

I don't mean to crap in anyone's cereal...but IMO I can't trade fashion over function..meaning, Although the jacket is super sweet, it's not real leather (for protection) nor is it a real Alpinestar with Alpinestar standards of quality and reliability... I love finding bargains, but I also believe that you get what you pay for.... There's a guy I met who had one of these jackets and it looked great!!!! But I'm a stickler for "authentic" officially licensed goodies.. I wouldn't feel right sporting a Rolex bought on the street corner for $20, and I would know that it's not the same...just Like I couldn't bring myself to buy an '07 1000RR and get the REPSOL sticker package...it's not the same (well, you know what I mean)...

If the price is right, I SAY GO FOR IT!!! I'm not doubting the jacket's appearance, cuz it's a great looking jacket!!!..

just my 2 cents...

Synthetic leather ain't gonna save you.

I will let you know if it's any good and will be able to get them for Forum members for approx $190 inc shipping. that's if Bk is okay with it........:D

I would need to get 10 to get the price down to $190.

I understand the sacrafice quite well guys but I am a little confused.. I guess you all are saying summer jackets are a no no as well right? Those things are straight mesh with padding. Its about comfort though... its not that the mesh looks so cool.
I dunno how hot it gets where you are but lemme tell you. Houston in July "ain't no punk". I rode with my firstgear leather jacket for a few summers and almost passed out. I am just saying at least I am not out there riding in a damn t-shirt like most of these fools. :D It is not just a FASHION thing, its also about being comfortable as well. In my opinion, for light riding, I would rather be a little more comfortable in a synthetic like that Duhan with padding than the real leather. If the weather wasn't a factor or if I was doing some serious ridin', I totally agree, leather is the way to go.

I bought this jacket a couple weeks ago, before i saw this post. Wasn't sure at first but once i got it i was really impressed. I would rather wear it than my ICON Ti-max mesh jacket. It is super comfortable and great for cool to warmer weather riding. It also looks awesome and matches the bike well. The patches are nice too.

Had another synthetic jacket before this one i wore on my F4i. Took a spill on that wearing it. It held up pretty well. Just got some battle scars on the jacket.

Just thought since I own one I would give my input on the topic.

They mention padding in the back, shoulders and elbows but don't say what kind of padding. Are they foam pads or CE certified armor?

playajay98
May 18th, 2007, 06:25 PM
The back padding is foam but there is 'hard' padding in the shoulders and elbows. I don't know if it is C.E. Certified but I have C.E. certified padding in my old firstgear leather and it seems just like that same stuff to me.

It doesn't say CE on it but I guess you can always buy CE pads on swap them out. I actually looked at this jacket back in June before I got the bike and hesitated because it was synthetic. I wouldn't mind wearing it while riding around in the city. I sure as heck wouldn't wear it up in the canyons. I'm still thinking about getting it.

Hey bud, I was just wondering how fast you were going when you took your spill with that synthetic jacket. Did you slide or was it a fall and short roll? I know it won't protect as well as a real leather jacket but it provides some decent protection right?

For serious riding I would definitely wear something thicker and less flashy...I wouldnt want to mess up a jacket like that while hitting the twisties.

I've had my Duhan now for a couple months, and love it. However, I did buy a large first, and found it to be too large for me. Had to order a medium. I've always been a 42 as well, and large generally fits me. I found this large to be just a bit too large for me, especially in the waist/mid-section. Shoulders were'nt bad. I just measured my chest at 41, and the medium fits great, so you may need a mediaum as well. If I get a chance later, I'll post a pic of me wearning them both so you can see the difference in the cut if you like. but for now...I gotta go out for the day to get my MX fix.
How much would it be to ship out there?

Hmmm, I think I want a medium now that I see you wearing it. I'm a 42 and slightly muscular. Is it snug around your chest and shoulders? My big issue is having the waist area being too big. My waist size is a 30 so the large may be baggy around there which really bugs me. Crap!

scrub
August 17th, 2007, 03:39 AM
Definitely, if your waist is a 30, you should order the medium IMO. It's comfortable around the chest/shoulders for me. Slightly muscular would be fine in the med I think. As long as your're not built like Arnold. It's snugger than the large, but not a lot. I have a 33 waist, and the large is too loose in the mid-section, and I hate that as well. The arms are also a little loose for me, because I don't have big arms either. I've never found a leather jacket where the arms fit snug like they should.
Anyway...I think you should hold out for a medium. But if you know someone looking for a large, send them here. Thanks.

i jsut recently purchesed the duhan repsol jacket also. got it in the mail today and wore it and i was suprised. The only complain i have about hte jacket is probably the inner lining and if possible to make to zipper under hte arm pit area for vententalation.

those are probalby the only con's. this is defenetly a great jacket. top notch for bang for buck even thru it doesnt have what stated above as luxuries. stitching is done great. details were acutally made accoding and not bad spellin =P(unlike me right now rapidely typing this post) im actually amazed on how detail the jacket is. all the wording is actually equally spaced and well sized. doenst break off @ the zipper and the patchese are placed right and look authentic also.

But dont compare it with a leather jacket which it is not. it will look like one but its definintly more along textile and mesh catagory for fallin purpose. but the padded armour @ are actually about all the same as in the joe rockets which ive worn and able to compare.

i paid 63$ + 41$ for shipping 105$ Canadian. for 105$ nothing comes close.

sorry for the essay just thought this would help ppl decide. i was reading this tread for so long untill i decide myself to get one.

oh one more warning. im pretty sure the colours will fade and take on other colors so becareful how u store it. do read the instruction card that comes with the jacket.

the material isnt really stretchable. i think the waist on me is a lil loose maybe by a 1inch in total but i have a 31 waist. (yeh im a tiny guy =/) i would suggest a large MAYBE on you because your 45lb heavier. Only thing is i think the sleeves and body of hte jacket might be to big or long for you. because the sleeves on the M fits me perfectly isnt to long or short @ all. and when i put full size gloves on it doesnt block of the last letters in Repsol on the arms. comes close but doesnt.

on the ebay list a few of the guys does have listin on the size of hte jacket so measure up according to your body. but remeber the mesurements on the ebay is according to the jacket shell with armour in. so give way to the shoulders about a inch or 2.

hope that helps out. if you want pics posted to give you an idea i dont mind, let me know

what does that remark mean, I've been riding longer than you probably been alive partner:evilgrin:

New to the forum. I was referring to the fact that you didnt make a new thread to introduce yourself.

TX Repsol has been dubbed our "Welcoming Committee Chairman". He usually lists the "proper" way for

new guys to the forum to introduce yourselves. We're a close group around here, like to have fun and

talk bikes. Start a new thread in the lounge and let us know a little about yourself and have some fun. :)

Oh and dont forget the pics of your bike, no matter how many times we see a Repsol it never gets old. :D

got jacket, a little snug , but can live with it , looks great, but if you went down, your hamburger meat no doubt, very thin material, hope this helps others who are thinking of getting it. For the money, yes it's a great jacket, protection wise 2 out of 10

Those of you that have had them for awhile what do you think? Are they still holding up?

I'm watching one on E-bay and thinking of snagging it.

I'm also going to be selling my AGV Suzuki GSX-R leather jacket if anyone is interested. It's in the blue/white/orange theme. I'm a size 48 XL and it fits me great. Any one interested PM me and I'll send some pics.

Mine is holding up well, but I also don't abuse it. It is a delicate jacket from what I can tell, and really was only bought for the Repsol looks. I use it for slow rides with my girlfriend in good weather. I wear other leather gear for the more agrressive rides, and general abuse.

Mines held up well also. Dont wear it all that much though. Seems well made to me, very comfortable also.

I bought Scrub's 'old' large size (thanks again man!) and I really like it. Its a little snug and I am growing so I may need to get a XL soon. I dont expect my skin to be saved in a bad fall but it does have hard shell armor in elbows and shoulders. One other thing though....it gets HOT in that jacket. I think for the price you cant beat it.
