One of my favorite roads, we call it the Little Dragon.

It stretches only 14 or so miles from Bear Valley to Culterville in California's gold country. It's about a two hour round trip from my home, so when I find myself with about two hours of riding time, I will usually take this route.

Cool! Let me know. I'm actually planning a whole day event at the Little Dragon. We will setup camp at Fremont's Fort, have chairs, drinks a BBQ going so we can rest up and hit the Dragon all day.

Geez, if there's one thing I hate about living in Texas... it's the lack of riding roads.

We need to do a Repsol ride. The wife and I are making plans to start a family in the next year or so - my days of being able to leave on a whim are numbered...

Not sure which part of Hwy 49 you're traveling on (or where Oakhurst is for that matter) but it is an AWESOME road. I live in Sacramento and will usually ride up to Auburn, CA and get on HWY 49 there (right where it becomes 2 lanes) and take Hwy 49 into Cool, CA where you can jump on Hwy 193, which takes you through little towns like Georgetown and eventually ends up in Placerville (some 28 miles later) where you can take Hwy 50 home if you choose.

Either way, awesome roads. There's also some that come off of Hwy 49 like Green Valley Rd in Folsom, CA area (El Dorado County) which hits Salmon Falls Rd, both of which are extremely twisty and a great day ride.
