What is the general idea as far as mods go? Do you modify a repsol or keep it stock to retain value. I would love an undertail, but kinda hate to ruin the originality of the bike.

I think it's up to the each owner's own preference. I have modified the bike a bit, but I still think it retains and even complements its original beauty.

Do what YOU like. After all, we did not buy these to sit in a roped off area of a museum, and we did not buy them as an investment. The majority of mods we do are not irreversible anyway if you keep the stock parts.
Do what you like, make your bike your own and have fun. Why worry about what you will be giving to the next owner?

I say...GO CRAZY!!! There will be no investment value for a Repsol, unless you are talking 30 years from now for a pristine stock crated bike. I've "invested" about $12K into mods for my bike and the whole bike might be worth that...mods included, unless someone has as much passion for carbon fiber as I do and can't duplicate what I have done but "must have that Repsol".
If you're looking for an investment, save your mod dollars, buy a house and hold onto it for 10-15 years depending on where you live...it will double in value...now that's an investment!
I've kept all of my stock bits, but they are unlikely to find their way back onto the bike unless a future buyer wants them.
You'll see most guys listing out all of their mods in their signature line...a definite ego booster and yardstick to measure your insanity against the next guy's. Let's face it, none of these mods is necessary to an already amazing bike, but just like any other hobby, we love to put our personal touch on our toys.
I fly radio control helis and planes and the same goes for that hobby...my bling is better than your bling, but really beauty is in the eye of the owner.
I think the most impactful mod to the bike is a pipe and PCIII which will set you back a cool grand after custom mapping, but if you use the same setup as another guy who has already spent the bucks, you can simply upload his map to your PCIII if he's kind enough to share, or if it's already in the map database...saving you $300-400.
Visually, your undertail will definitely be rare among Repsol owners, but that will limit your exhaust choices.
If you have specific questions about mods, most of us will have an opinion and those opinions will differ, so go with your gut and heart, and make it your own.
Cheers...RR

i wanna do the ultimate mod on my bike.
Its a toss up...new bike or single sided swing arm for my sexy rep.
Single sided swing arm is a custom job for the cbr 1000 and will cost me close to $9000. with rims.
I think it will be awsome though with the full orange rim exposed . I recently seen in a magazine called 2 wheel tuner a single sided front fork...well not a fork anymore what eva you would call it. So both rims were fully exposed on the right side. Its very impressive.
So basicly Mods r o.k. they actually r what make your bike yours.
I seen a repsol in my hood and he was looking at my mods and i was looking at his. He had a custom back tire hugger with holes on the sides and mesh behind it and had mesh behind all the openings on the body also. and on the front tire hugger. he also had red lights strobing inside the body. <---im so copying!

Most mods require little or no modification to other parts of the bike. I replaced my pipe with a Jardine and put all the old parts in the box the Jardine came in, then tucked it away in the basement.
If you plan on selling the bike right away, then don't waste your money on mods. I plan on keeping mine for years to come, so resale is not an issue with me.

Amen to MODS I have yet to pull in somewhere and not have heads turn>>>>> first because the color scheme is well known second becuase the full sato exhaust from the heads back with some blue titanium showing just screams for attention  maybye too much all the BUSA guys ask how soon I wanna get my pretty little honda's ass kicked, I reply take it easy fella I got kids :) I do have the power commander in the tail, just got mapped and wow what a differenc at low rpm's even high gear, I mean absolutely better driveability and no lag whatsoever.....Just what I really needed beter throttle response so now I can hit it even If I was in too high of a gear and did not shift down before accelleration... I just got the fender elliminator kit with the 12 LED lights super bright and safe for brake and turn, and the same 12 led pattern lights for front turn signals with short stems but they still have great head on visibility, So super bright and safe and they look a thousand times better than the gigantic stalks that stuck off the front and rear before....My friends kept asking me when I was gonna name them :) Sorry about the long post....

Sometimes mods will often increase the value of a bike anyway. So in my humble opinion MOD AWAY. :D

As far as undertails go, I really like this one from Eurobikes.
It's clean, very good fit, easy to install and the color match is near perfect.
It fits in with the lines of the bike nicely.
