I know there are alot of canyon riders/mtn riders here. Im one who has some great mtn roads to ride. I have to ride about 1.5 hrs to get to said roads. So Im looking at good 5 hr ride. My question is do you drop your tire psi for the ride when you get there? Riding a long way to get there I would think it would kill the tires. Or do you Adjust as you go? Seems like a pain. Will be doing more mtns than before so I want to be able to get max grip in the twisters but not kill them coming and going. Are you running 38f 42r?:confused2: I think Johnny B rides mtn roads alot (at the speed limit of course sir)!:D So this is different than track cond of course. Thanks for any info.

Did you see this thread? Correct Tire Pressure (http://www.repsolforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1346&referrerid=138)
I personally check my tire pressure before a ride and don't mess with different psi for highway vs corner carving. Most of my corner carving riding has some high speed sprints mixed in, so it's all the same for me anyways.

Now I did, didn't solve much but I'll ask around. Every answer is way different.

Rich,
If you are going to travel that far to hit some twisty roads....It would probably make sense to ride with the max. psi for your ride there and back...and once you got to your destination, drop the pressure for the best grip.

I would suggest a trailer for your bike then once you get there....jump on the bike and enjoy the ride.

:stupid:
I always trailer to my destination when I'm going to ride the twisties. Considering there are no twisties within 4 hours of me, it's a no-brainer. We usually trailer to Arkansas and ride like mad for a few days and then trailer back.

did you read where he said he rides for an hour to get to good roads.....then wanting to ride for few hours. he did not say his hauling his bike......this is why i suggested a trailer for his bike.
some of us do trailer our bikes to long good roads. some times !!!!

Will you be slamming your bike around turns??? Draggin' knee??? I suggest just leaving your tire pressure at the manufacturers recommended psi...the only time we changed psi is when we hit the track...

Im thinking after this input keeping it at spec maybe a couple lbs under. I would hate to be somewhere and f up my tires for nothing. Ya track is a complete different thing. Im talking day riding up and back.

when i was in Cali we would be out riding for hours...we would hit the twisties thru Napa and then hit Lake Berryessa...there was highway riding as well... ...we would just leave the tires alone...it saved excessive wear and tear on the tires...

I'm on my phone and can't paste a link - take a look at the 'Got Road' subforum and look for my trip report from our last ride...
