Ok. Bought an 05 about a month ago. It just turned 7500 miles. Tire looked a little flat in the center when I bought it, but figured id get most of the summer out of it before i would have to change it. I was wrong... I put about 600 miles on it, and the treads in the center are almost warn flat right in the center.. The outside edges never looked like they were never touched before i rode the bike, and I still left about an inch of untouched tire.

It has a set of dunlop sportmax's on it. Can anyone tell me if that is the stock tired that came with the bike? I'm not sure if its possible that its still the original tire???? The front barely looks warn, and the back the center is completely flat, and unused on the outside. If it is in fact the original front tire, even if the tread is fine, is it smart to replace a 4 year old tire that was most likely just ridden perfectly straight up and down.

I am stuck between getting by for this summer with just doing the dunlop in the back and keeping the right set of tires on there and upgrading both next year... or switching both right now and going to a set of Pilot's. I know there are tons of threads with the debat's on what the best tires are... just not sure what is better in this situation, or if anyone knows the best place to get a good deal on either the dunlop or a pilot. I do plan on getting more aggressive as the summer comes and the roads warm up and some of the gravel is cleared up. But I also have about a 30 mile commute on the highway i will be doing a few times a week...... Any thoughts would be great!

I believe thats what I had on my 05, Ive changed them since then....went with the Michelin 2ct
I think mine had about the same mileage

Are you saying you plan on using the current rear tire?
How is your front tire?

no the rear tire needs to be replaced immediately... front tire looks hardly warn, but think its the original tire yet.

im like 90 percent sure its the original..... i just think the bike was never really ridden other than a straight line and nice and slow.... because there is honestly not a mark on the edges of the tire...... maybe thats why it was sold!

I know that new off the floor they put B-stone BT-015's on the 07's. The owner's manual states to use the BT-015's or Diablos. Of course, that is just one of those contract things between the tire manufacturers and Honda.

I look at it this way, my boy low-sided his R-1 on Pilots about a month ago. He wasn't draggin' knees or anything, the rear just went and so did he. It doesn't matter what brand of tire you have on your bike, you only have 2 wheels and where one goes, the other follows. I wouldn't even risk it. If your going to replace the rear tire, replace the front as well. I take the safe vs. sorry approach.

I'm going to the Gap in May and my B-stones have even wear after a year and a half. I will probably replace them when I get back because I know I'm going to be putting some serious miles on them up there. Talk to any of the hard-core track folks, they will tell you. Don't roll the dice with half-assed tires.

Good luck and be safe. ;)

thats kind of the way i feel.... the tires just looked old, compared to everyone elses i was riding with this past weekend... rubber just didn't seem as nice.. and the back was flat instead of curved... I think im just going to order up both tires tomorrow and see if I can find some sort of decent deal around here...

Good deal Tony. The other thing to think about is that most shops won't put your tires on unless you buy them from them. As retarded as that is, it's a liability thing for them. They may do it but you may have to sign some waiver first. :loser:

yeah and it looks like they want 50 a tire to put them on if i dont' buy them from them. I have the irons to do it myself but dont' want to be responsible if I scuff up the orange... i'd rather have someone else be responsible if they do and that has a lot more practice before i have to add powdercoating to my total....

Is 50$$$ per tire from a mechanics shop??? I would look for a small mechanics shop rather than the stealerships...hell I don't know how many times someone would come into my buddy's shop with the tires on backwards:confused2::confused2::confused2: from the stealership...check your yellow pages you might even be able to find a deal...

I like that saying Jason (you only have to wheels where one goes, the other follows) Tires are not what you want to go cheap on

well its that time again....

I only got about 3500 miles out of the Qualifier I put on the rear. Chords are not showing yet.... but another ride and they probably will.... And the fronts getting pretty baldy... so probably going to go with the 2ct's this time around... Anyone have any thoughts on where to pick them up from...

Do you trust online discount sites? I've heard they could be old or blemish type tires....

What have you guys been paying for a set of 2ct's? Thanks
