Why sell? I have 3 kids, while I don't get to ride that much, when I do, it is a nice escape. Don't let everyone fool you into believing kids are sooo expensive that you can't afford anything else. I wouldn't trade them for anything and am glad I have them, but you also need time for you as well. Don't marry her for the child either, do it because you love her that much, if not, it won't work anyway. Advice: go buy Baby Mozart on DVD, your baby will love it and will give you some quiet time.

I understand you're reasoning for it man. I made a deal with my g/f that I can get another bike, but as soon as we have kids, if we do, I have to sell the bike. My g/f's scared I'll get hurt, and especially if you have kids that can be devastating.

Good luck selling it.

Same with us, but my son is now 1 and I still have a bike. It is a tough decision to keep a bike when you have kids due to the lack of riding time, shift in responsibility, and not wanting to take the risk.

After being bikeless for a year, I went back to it. You will find that when you need time away from everything, even the kids, that motorcycling is an excellent outlet. I just had to settle down when it comes to riding fast, wheelies, and taking risks. That, plus we bumped up my life insurance.

I have 2 kids, my son is 3 and my girl is 6.....when I got married I sold my 1993 CBR 600F2.....that lasted about 2 years......we had our little girl in feb. and I got my 2001 CBR 600F4 in march of 01....then we had our boy in feb 04 and I bought my 2004 CBR 1000RR in April of 2004......so it is very possible to enjoy the family and the bike......not as much ridin time as I had when I didn't have kids but I get my riding here and there.....I only put 5000 miles on my 04 in 3 years:eek: .......

3 Boys....age 7, 4, and 1. You get wiser as you get older. I like to have fun and go fast every once in awhile, but I know my limits and won't push them...like evryone else says, when the kids and wife are stressing me out, even a 20 minute ride around town is a great get away....

I sold my last bike when i had twins. That was the first time i had not had a bike since i was a kid. Honestly i missed it the entire time (8 yrs). Don't get me wrong, i love my kids, but being on a bike is pure bliss and is great for getting rid of stress. I understand if you have to sell it though. My wife made me do the same thing back then, but now that she rides, she feels bad for making me sell it back then because she understands the passion or obsession in my case!

Why is it always..."THE MOTORCYCLE HAS TO GO!" Get rid of the dog or something. I know a new baby aint cheap but give it a go, you will probably be able to adjust. If you had the expendable income to make the purchase of a bike a new addition would probably not bankrupt you. Just my 2 cents, anyways congrats on being a new dad. A new baby is almost as good as a new bike haha! Myself a boy 13 girl 3

Go easy on the guy... he's already dealing with a totally life-changing pregnancy!

Consider the bike payment + insurance + gas + maintenance and you're talking about a pretty serious expense, easily a few hundred dollars a month.

There was a time when I lived paycheck to paycheck, but still squeezed hard enough to own a new 2001 CBR 929. Had we thrown a baby into that mix, I would've had to sell the bike and probably tightened the purse strings in several other areas just to keep squeeking by, paycheck to paycheck.

I commend the guy for being a responsible enough (future) parent to make sacrifices to better support his (future) child.

Congrats on the new baby just to let you know the first year is not so bad on the wallet, my child was a breast fedder and we got most everything at the baby shower to help with my daughter. It was not untill we started preschool and making friends that things got exspensive! I stop riding about 5 months before my child was born because of complications with the pregnacy and I was making emergency trips to the hospital at least once a month with the scare of miscarriage. I am hear to tell you after working extra hours, using ebay to sell everything I could scrape up at garage sales, and cutting back on silly exspense, including the famous take me to dinner line and i will make sure dessert is what you want{ wink wink} I saved my shiny pennies and after 4 and half years I was riding again have been for the last year AMEN.. I ride to work like 3 or more days a week saves on gas for sure and I get 110 miles in round trip with lots of twistyies and plenty of long straight open road, belive me the cows hide when they see orange now!!!!! So ya I don't go out very much at night wiht the fellas to cause hell around town but the moring and evening trips back and fourth to work are so much more fun the riding in the cage like just another day I owe so off to work I go... Now I love the ride to work and I am happy to be there, the rest of the day I am looking forward to the ride home!!!!! I just wanted to tell you don't worry you get your life back and yes my daughter has made me much more cautious and I have a giant life insurance package now WHEW sorry bout the long post and good luck man.... I hate to say this ut not all pregnancies go well you might wait and make sure that things are happy and healthy before you sell... i know it's sad to think about but our 9 months was up and dwon and we almost did not have the new addition to the family, now my wife rides too scary thought hungh? Ohh I am gonna post a pis wiht a beautiful child on a repsol :D
