which ones did you go with and where did you get em?
i have generic t-rex stands which aren't bike specific so they are terrible i need to get some new ones.

Well, I just picked up a set of Vortex stands, but I haven't had much time to check them out yet. They seem pretty rugged and sturdy. You'll need to purchase an additional pin to match your bike for the head lift front stand. I like about the huge handles on these stands that make it easy to leverage the bike off the ground. My rear stand is their newer design that will actually allow me to remove the handle when the bike is off the ground, so I won't trip over it while walking around the bike. :)

Now, Corey from motomummy carries a line if pretty cool looking stands. they're made by DMP, and although "i haven;'t seen them in person, they look pretty cool. You can't beat the price and 79.99 for the rear and front fork lift stands, and 109.99 for the head lift stands. Looks like the head lift stand comes with all the pins needed to lift all sportbikes.

BK. You have seen these in person. I had your baby jacked up on the DMP stem and spool stands to change your wheels.

Yeah, that's what Vortex said too, but Mike didn't have to when using the DMP stands. I can't remember Mike if you said they changed it for the '05 so that moving the horn was no longer a problem, or if it was because of the DMP stand.
I need to try these things out, hopefully this week I can get the front stand up under the Repsol to see how it works. :)

I had to move charlies horn on his 2004 1000RR. The 2005 Repsol was not an issue. Did not have to be moved.

I have pittbull stands and they dont reqire you to remove your horn.. The 600 rr you have to move or remove your horn to use them.

the 2004 CBR1000RR seems to have a different horn bracket. The 2005 Repsol has a horn bracket that you can bend a up slightly to accomodate some stem stands. The DMP stand slid past with a 1/4 inch to spare.

so i will have to bend the horn then or it will be just fine the way it is?

some bikes, yes you will have to bend the horn bracket up slightly. It won't hurt anything.

I can confirm that...I had to remove the horn in order for the Pin to get access to the bottom of the tree.
Ive been very happy with my Pitbull stands...I did have the front stand that you placed under the bottom of the forks....but I always had a hard time getting her on there.
Besides, to get the front wheel off would be a PITA using that type.

so you have no horn at all then or did you bend/move it?

I removed the horn...and have it stashed in the garage.
I normally never ride in commuter traffic...only time I take her out is on rides up in the hills or on long drives.
Really no need for honking when Im out and about.

i know id have a hard time passing inspection, ill have to figure something else out. ill probably have a hard time no matter what with an integrated tail light. the turns are supposed to be 6 inches from the brakes i think is state law.

the stands overall work pretty well, the only thing i dont like is the rear spool stand the area where it grabs the spools it is too skinny to get both of them at the right area the one side will grab too far in, so i actually had to slide the spool lift piece in from the outside with the stem facing in to give it enough distance between the two lift points in order for it to grab them right. the stem lift, although really hard to get in w/o touching the hugger, works great. feels really sturdy. although im not sure how the axle is supposed to slide out easier than with fork lift stands because it looks like the axle will slide right into the stand theres only 2" on each side. maybe im missing something as i havent even attempted removing wheels yet i dont know how they come apart exactly.

after searching around a bit, ive learned the dmp stands commonly are too narrow and some force is required to bend them wider. i will try this later.
