the cops were a bunch of idiots, man. they were giving tickets to any riders, even those riding on bicycles.

the cops were a bunch of idiots, man. they were giving tickets to any riders, even those riding on bicycles. You're not kidding! The so-called motorcycle only road turned out to be motorcycle-buses only. It was much worse trailing behind these beasts on 50+year old roads without the possibility to pass. I'd prefer to go back and deal with cars as they were easy to navigate around and didn't kick up as much dust. These huge monstrosities destroyed the roads and on Sunday we were greeted with a few patch crews clogging up and dropping cones in the middle of the road. The guy in front of me caught one and almost kicked it up into my bike.

The route that us motorcyclists were forced to use was the longest route to the track. I couldn't figure out why they choose this route until I saw it for myself. The stretch on highway 1 from Monterey to the Reservation road off ramp was heavily patrol. I'm talking dozens of CHP cruisers and bikes lined the highway. Although I did see a few cars were caught by their traps, it was 90 percent bikes that I saw sitting on the side of the road.

Once you got off the freeway, you were again subjected to the area's finest while cruising the streets of Marina. All the way out to the track entrance, you were being watched by the eyes of the law. What a great opportunity for these areas to grab a little more needed revenue from this event.

Just to clarify Cops arent by nature Jerks its the people that we work for who are the real idiots they answer to politicians and if you want to keep your job you must be productive then on top of that the public hates you because of what you are forced to do to keep your job which in many ways has some great benefits worth the danger and hate. So sorry many guys just get lost in the job ,as for me I say **** it, I do what I want and damn the torpedos:D

+1, I know and ride with a few cops and they are just like us. :) I've even been pulled over many times by the CHP and they have let me go every time so far. Honesty and respect is the best policy, and I've never once had to lie to get out of a ticket. :)

Cops are just like any other profession - you'll find cool ones and you'll find assholes.

I had a flat tire in the HOV (high occupancy vehicle) lane on my 929 a while back. I was sitting there on the shoulder waiting on a friend to pick me up and a motorcycle cop showed up. We started chatting and he told me he rides an R1 and is always getting razzed by other cops because he rides wheelies all the time. Then he cracked up laughing and says "watch this!". He rides about 300 feet away, turns the (police) bike around, revs it to the moon and dumps the clutch. He popped a few small wheelies on the police bike and came back over laughing his fool head off.

The about 6 months later I got another flat in the same damn place. The cop that showed up that time was in a car and gets out and starts reaming my ass for sitting in the shoulder. I tried to be polite and explain that there was nothing I could do and that I had a friend on the way to get me. He keeps screaming at me and says he's calling a tow truck. Fugger calls a flat bed to come tow my **** off.... I was pissed. He kept telling me he was going to take me to jail if I didn't quit cussing and screaming at him... I didn't stop and he didn't take me to jail. Sorry bastard.

Sorry to make it into such a long post!

I'm also going to MotoGP this year. Me and a few buddies are renting an RV just to go to the races for all 3-4 days and possibly towing a few bikes.

the first day i installed the jardine on my bike...of course no lic. plate on bike....a chp pulled me over. the first thing he asked, where is your plate.
as i was going to school....i took off my back pack and pulled the plate out. i said to the cop that i have not installed the plate on the bike...cause a driver knocked my bike down...that my plate was on back order from the shop. since i was bull ****ting the cop.....he ran my plates. (i have a clean record since the day i was born).....he came back "i believe you.....hey you got a camera there....why do you take of me with your bike"......the rest is history.....the chp officer is one of my best friends.....he went and got himself a ZX10....we ride together. of course he has save my butt from chp's couple of times.

since i have my cameras and other stuff for my class......

I will probably be there this year....last year was something else, damn heat was something else.
I was born in that area...and dont recall it ever being that hot.

Anyways, its great to have family down there...saves me from being raped by the hotels.
