Hi guys looking for some advise. I got a puncture in my back tire a few weeks ago and had to replace the tire, had to get what I could afford at the time but the front and rear don't match anymore. I want to get a new set of matching tires and someone suggested Michelin Pilot Power 2ct. Anyone got any experience with these? Good or bad? I want them for a daily commute as well as riding in the canyons.
Thanks guys

like trey said I have the pilot powers and love them...I've heard very good things about the 2ct's ..The thing is I live in alaska so if I have a blowout I don't have the luxury of stores stocking 2ct's.I had a blowout on my rear about 3 weeks ago ,tried opting for 2ct's only special order.Ended up putting a pilot power rear on 285.00 usd .Fronts still good, will be replacing when the rear is gone..Then I could order the 2ct's ..Its funny, the dealer stalks pilot powers but it only in 55 series oppose to stock 50's I lowered my rear pressure to 25lbs..front to 28lbs,can't really tell the difference

great tires...but not very good for commutes - all the mates are bitchen, they are only happy when doing a bit of hard rideing then they come to you.
Ive opted for the BT016R's "tripple compound Back and duel front" good for commuting straight lines and they work well in the bends also. my:twocents::evilgrin:

I must be one of the biggest advocates of the 2ct 55's. Used to run Pirelli 50 and made the switch. Will never look back. I have been really impressed with their wear too as they are holding up superbly. Edges are really soft and grippy for a street tire too. A little pricy, but if you can get the 55's (with a matching 2ct up front) you will love it.

2ct are the winners but tires are a personal choice...
me i swear by them & a few of the guys around here will vouch that i dont ride like a girl..
compared to michelin power race supersport tires on the track same bike same rider the diff is .42/sec so you can imagine how much faith i have in them to ride like that with them on

This site might help to chose what tire is best for how you ride. I was going to get the 2ct but lately been riding more highway than twisties maybe another set of rims

I put the 2CT on my '05 and I like them just as much as the Power Race that I have on the '07. I went with the 55 profile on both. What an awesome improvement over the 50s, I'll never go back !! Check www.sportbiketrackgear.com, they have excellent prices and ship orders over $150 for free.

Thanks guys this has been really helpful. I am gonna get myself a set. Now this is the part I sound dumb. I can't seem to make out the size on the tires that are on there at the moment, anybody know what size I should get? Also what's the difference with profiles and what's the best? (don't know much about getting really good tires) if the size on the website says "190/50/17" is 50 the profile?
Thanks again guys as always this site is extremely helpful. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to tires

Declan50 is the profile....some guys will go 55 it gives a slight better cornering ability for the track. Go 50.

Easiest way to describe it, if you had your tire mounted on the wheel, side by side, the 190/55 will be about 1/4" taller in height than the 190/50. The 55 is going to be a little more 'sharp' at the top, meaning that you won't have as much of a contact patch going in a straight line. The advantage is, your bike will roll into a lean a whole easier and have a better contact patch while leaning than the 50.
190 is the width of the tire. 190 is wider than a 180. Same holds true for the fronts. 120 is wider than a 110 and 60 is a lower profile than 70.

perfect, thanks a lot guys. Thomcat thanks for that website reference, they are $80 cheaper than what I was about to pay at cyclegear's sale price. are these the ones to get to fit the repsol?
Sport/Racing Tires 120/70/17 Front & 190/50/17 Rear Combos
have all sportsbikes got the same size wheels so tires fit them all?
Wow I really sound clueless :confused2:

Yes, that's what you need to order. As for your other question, not ALL sport bikes have the same size wheels but MOST of the bigger bikes, like a 1000 RR, run the 17" x 6" rear wheels, (190/50/17 tires ), while the 600 bikes use a 17" x 5.5" wheel, ( 180/50/17 tires ).
