Has anyone tried the Quiet Module Insert that Jardine sells? Do they really quiet the exhaust down to street legal volume?

I'll follow that with another question, not knowing anything about the product.

Does it rob horsepower?

I love it too, but I'm afraid of waking up the whole block when I go to work. I also have a Suomy SPEC-1R which dosen't offer any hearing protection. Well, I may just say screw the neighbors and I'll use some ear plugs. Anybody know of any nice comfortable ear plugs?

Anybody know of any nice comfortable ear plugs?

Squidracer, along with several of my other riding buddies, purchased molded ear plugs.

There's a vendor at the motorcycle show each year that takes a mold of your ear canal and molds earplugs custom fit to your ear. I believe they have the ability to wire little speakers into the plugs to be used for whatever you wish, but don't quote me on that last part.

PM squidracer for more info - he should be able to give you tha manufacturers contact info.

I am with screw the neighbors. I have to put up with their smelly kids, so they can put up with my loud bikes ;)

While I won't go as far as saying "screw the neighbors", I will say that I don't let my neighbors concerns dictate my life. I've got a rather healthy Mustang that is by no means quiet. My bike will hopefully get a full system in the near future as well.

But for me, the MAIN reason I want the full system is the extra power, not the sound.

There's something to be said about flying under the radar, if you know what I mean...

You are right about the Vendor being able to make them with speakers. Got myself a set last year at Laguna. They sound good but the back of the ear piece is molded out of a hard plastic, They would have been more comfortable if they had been soft. I went to the Bike show in the UK last year and they were making them out of a softer material. Couldn't justify another set.....;)

If I remember rightly, they were approx $75 - 80. The one's with speakers were $250.

Just found a place online that sells them for about that much. For anyone thats interested it is called www.westone.com. You actually go to an Audiologist an they make the earmolds and send the to Westone. I'm going to look more into these.

I don't understand all this earplug talk. Why not just go with a not-so-loud exhaust? I have a yosh slip-on and its loud as hell, probably needs to be re-baffled. I may go with a more quiet one soon because I'm always setting off car alarms. Even so, I don't need earplugs. I still want to be able to hear the sounds of the street, like skidding cars and sirens. Hmm, is it the helmet maybe? I rock a Scorpion exo-700...love it.

The issue of earplugs is not so much just the exhaust noise. It's all loud noises like exhaust, wind, etc. I wear molded earplugs because they are more comfortable than the foam ones to me. They fit to the curves of your ear. The other types have to expand and over long rides can be uncomfortable. I can hear everything else just fine. The earplugs seem to lower the wind and exhaust sounds enough to hear other things. I can hear a car pulling up beside me and I can hear horns and sirens just fine.
I have found that wearing them makes my rides more enjoyable. I feel less drained after a ride. I know that sounds strange but it is true. I tell everyone that they should at least try it a few times to see if they like it. Without so much loud noise directly in your ears it seems more calm and not so stressful to the ears and mind. Most of the people that I have talked into trying it tell me that they could not imagine riding without them anymore. There are some that just don't like stuff in thier ears. This is my .02.

I do have some good neighbors, so when I come home after 9pm at night, I go down my street (goes downhill) and I hit the kill and coast into the garage. As for the morning, consider it a wake up call.:D
