Makes me think of that movie (was it Any Given Sunday?) where that guy takes a chainsaw to another guy's truck and cuts it completely in half!!!
I must say riding a bike has made me a much more careful and attentive driver. I'm always checking to make sure I don't accidentally hit any bikes and or bikers. Anyway, sorry to hear that man, hope you get her fixed up soon!

i got to say...i was screaming at my insurance all day yesterday.....they were very calm. ALLSTATE.....are taking care of my bike. they actually got on the phone, called a tow truck ((flatbed)) also called my dealer where i bought my bike....have the manager waited for the bike till it got there.....i was so upset, i just didn't do anything....the officer just gave me my report #.
i called the dealer today to make sure they ordered the parts.....they already had a list of 30 items. they are just waiting for the insurance to release authorisation.
the pick up driver wanted to go under the table, telling me not to report the incident.....that he would take care of all the damages....i just said sorry buddy...not my thing to do.

I've done that in the past when the damages were less than or dangerously close to the deductible.
I seriously doubt this guy that hit you had any idea of what he was getting himself into ($$$) when he wanted to pay for the damages himself.

It's bad enough you having to sell your bikes, but having someone delay the pain is a mother.
Hope you get it all sorted out, the main thing is your okay.

You're absolutly right man...I doubt this guy had any clue as to the cost of the damages. A lot of them probably just say..."hell, it's only plastic! How bad can it be?"

Yeah its crazy how expensive it is for consumers to replace plastic nowadays. its not only bikes either. My buddy owns a body shop and a benz needed a new bumper, all plastic, for like $1,500!!

i just finished talking to the dealer shop and my insurance.....i told the dealer that i wanted the frame check and certified for any dents or bent parts.
the stimate on just parts....it is about $7877.00 dollars. that's not including the labor....plus what ever the fee for checking frame...dealer stimated about $2700.....there is a suplemental on the parts and labor....thats about 20%.
i talked to my insurance.....i asked them if they want to buy me a new bike....and that's out of the question.
i will be talking to the claime adjuster by friday.......i told my insurance that i just want my bike back......taking in consideration, it's a limited edition..2005

yeah...those numbers are waaaaaaaaay too high. maybe 2700, but not 7000. To get my frame check by G.M.D. Computrack is $200 to measure then if it needs straightening it would be another $550. That dealer is raping the insurance company...and we wonder why the rates are so much.

thats correct.....$2637 for the work if any on the frame. that includes everything from shop to shop and any other misc work.
and yes....$7588 for plastics...according to the stimate. my front rotor got scratch.....rear wheel paint scratch....part of the swing arm few scratches.
at this moment i dont care what the insurance is paying ((mine insurance))....they will be collecting from FARMERS INSURANCE.

Wow...I thought a whole new set of plastics was around 1500 from all I've seen, but I guess they're replacing everything that's scratched....good for you....tell that jackass to come run over my Repsol too, there's a few scratches I'd like replaced.

Yeah, the smartest thing I did was take the bike down to the local dealer where they charge 20% above retail for the parts. I just took it down for the eval and then purchased the same OEM parts on-line for thousands of dollars less and fixed it myself. :)

They came close to totaling the bike and when I said that it was because the ship was inflating the prices on the parts and I can get them at half the price elsewhere, the claim adjuster told me that I should cash out the clam and fix it myself. With the money I saved, I purchase all new plastics up front, bought some new gear for me and the wife and still ended up with over 1,500 in my pocket. I would have never thought of fixing the bike myself if the insurance guy hadn't mentioned it to me. :)

If it makes you feel any better, becuase i know it hurt me.... while i was standing in the lobby of the shop I work in while facing the window. I had not taken off my jacket yet just pulled up. I parked my repsol on the sidewalk in fron of a huge window. I just put my helemt down to help a customer would had been waiting and i see a flash of orange paint go upside down like in slow motion. A guy in a minivan backs over my bike and pins it up against a curb in between the curb and a concrete flower planter he drags my bike into the side of our building.....ya while i run to the door screaming and kicking his van finally he stops.....Woa I damn near snapped into the green hulk I have 2 estimates from 2 dealers one for $4,800 and one for $5,100 i have not rode in 2 weeks the insurance company has only offered $3,500 so far. Does anyone have advice for making them compromise? SO SAD only 3800 miles yikes i hate minivan drivers!!!!!! FOREVER>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Thanks MUCH!!!! your friend repsol 47 was a huge help I got 3 of the much needed pieces from that GEM of a fellow, you CAlifornians are easy going :D but yeah that's it the headlight assembly, the gauge cluster mutli plug, and turn siganl leads are still mounted, the plug-in behind the gauge with the odometer safety seals has one plug and then a multi connector down by the radiator for everything else . I wanted to go for a naked ride around the block but she wont start with both multi connectors unplugged. I guess honda does not want you to ride without speedo, headlights, or tunrsignals....hehe so around the block I did not go

Im not familiar with what roads are ridden down there.

i normallly ride in the altamont near tracy and livermore....there is a good canyon...clean sweepers, twisties....i can open it, up to 120-140mph...i know, i know is kind of stupid....but thats a clean nice road and there is hardly, hardly hardly any traffic on the weekends.....i have not seen a cop in that area for quite some time.....im always scanning. i got through that canyon jumping to the other side of the mountain to carnegie area....very sharp/dried/cut corners.....rough road but i like it. there are some 10-15 mile turns with some cliff on the side....some what intimidating but they are very good.... you can ride with 2-3rd gear feeling your rear wheel slide a bit....but the feeling is very good.....
