Unless you live in the southern part of the state, the roads couldn't suck much worse.
A good riding trip involves throwing the bikes on the trailer and driving half a day to somewhere with good roads. Ride the hell out of the bikes for a few days, then trailer 'em back to flat, congested North Texas again...
BTW - welcome to the site. As you've already seen, it's a great site. Small, focused and friendly, with plenty of traffic even with our small numbers.

Thanks all for the parade of welcomes!!!
Yeah...Texas is one big a## state to travel around in. New England's not to bad. Some good roads, some not. Traffic, and LEO's is sometimes a concern though. One of these days I'm gonna travel a little bit more to see if I can find some really nice, long curvy roads. I hear there is some good stuff South of me. I still have yet to try Deals Gap, and hear it's great.

I agree with TX Repsol. Everything is flat where I am in Houston but if you trailer the bike to Austin or anywhere in the hill country, you got some nice rides. I actually like riding mine to Austin. Of course I like riding anywhere! Even around town in a dangerous city like Houston. Dangerous for riders anyways. People here, just like most other major cities, just don't respect riders enough.

That is one trip I will make before I die, hopefully several times. We make a trip to Arkansas almost every year to ride around the Ozark mountains, but a couple of us have discussed Deals Gap on a few occasions.
Hopefully one of the next trips will see us driving right past Arkansas on our way to the Gap.

I'm about 20 min South of Hartford...Located in Cheshire. If you don't know where that is, it is surrounded by Southington, Meriden, Hamden, Wolcott, and Prospect. Can't think of any good landmarks. I've been out your way a few times, but not a real lot.

The closet I get to you guys is Stamford. I like the roads off the Merritt Parkeway off Longridge road, Route22. We normally ride up there once a month.

sickrick,
Western CT/MA is sometimes a common direction for me to go when I ride the Repsol, but I've been spending a little more time on the ST lately with the lady. On occation I may also head out in the direction of The Bean, or down towards the Goodspeed to tool around some. Good play time roads in Eastern CT too. Give a heads up next time you're headed West. I'll see if I can join you. Ever stop in at The Toymakers Cafe in Falls Village, CT? When I head East I'l let you know as well.
Salvaje..I think I've been on 22 once. Seems to me I recall it was a nice ride, but don't remember. Is it just over the CT/MA border in NY?
