well, i love reading LORD DUCKHUNTER's www.rogueracing.org since it is almost a BIBLE for us 1000rr fans.
a mod that i really liked, but wouldnt work for the OEM seat cowl, was the BUMP PAD for race bodywork. it is really more for aesthetics than purpose (mostly a poser mod just like LDH said). http://www.rogueracing.org/bump.htm
i stumbled onto www.thurn-motorsport.de and found an OEM stock cowl bump pad. it looks like the OEM seat, but it is made of rubber and is held on to the cowl by two screws which you have to drill.
anyways, here are my POSER MOD pix of the BUMP PAD for OEM stock cowl:

Here's my concern...
When I "installed" my OEM cowl, the cowl was so close to the tail that I had to add extra washers to keep it from rubbing against the tail and scratching the paint.
Do you not worry that the force of your ass against the pad will press the cowl into the tail and do cosmetic damage to the tail?

I think it's mainly for looks more than anything. I've had them on a few of my bikes in the past.
