Honda Factories

Can anyone tell me where Honda builds Motorcycles, not just ours but the other models as well. I think I read the Goldwing is made in the U.S:D

I'm not sure about other models, but some Goldwings are made in the USA. In the VIN, there is a letter 'A' that represents the Ohio factory and a number '4' that represents the South Carolina factory. They are right before the numerical vin code.

JH2 - Japan
1HF - U.S.A.
YC1 - Belgium
92C - Brazil
3H1 - Mexico
VTM - Spain
ZDC - Italy
JH3 - Japan
478 - U.S.A.

V.I.N. # breakdown - 17 digits total

first three digits = make and type of vehicle & where mfg'd
next five digits = vehicle description code
9th digit = check digit
10th digit = year
11th digit = mfg. plant code
Last six digits = sequential production number

I saw an episode of "How It's Made" I think it's on TLC or Discovery. They were building Goldwings, wasn't any mention of where, they just ran down how motorcycles are made.

Honda only builds specific models at specific factories, and all CBR1000RRs are made in Japan at the Hamamatsu factory (http://world.honda.com/HamamatsuFactory/). The Honda Marysville Factory (http://ohio.honda.com/Company/mmp.cfm) is in Marysville, Ohio and makes the Gold Wing 1800, the VTX 1800 V-Twin Cruiser and the VTX 1300 V-Twin Cruiser. If you are ever in the area, try to take the tour, it is cool. Honda also has an automotive factory in Marysville that makes the Acura RDX, Accord Sedan, Accord Coupe and Acura TL Sedan.

Also, the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum (http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/) is just down the road in Pickerington.
