So I got myself a new dark smoke screen and another Repsol sticker to go across the bottom........cost of sticker $40
What a mother to put on, screwed it up trying to put it on ...........another ******g $40.........sorry just had to vent.
Plus I'm trying to quit smoking, nearly smashed the screen with a hammer to relieve my 0 - 100 temper.
Anyone fitted a new sticker that could give some tips.

It gets worse.
When I ordered the sticker they got me a 05 on the first attempt. So I thought I will take the empty wrapper with the part number on so they get the right one.
Bent down to get the wrapper out of the trash can and hit my head on a shelf when I stood up.
I am at an all time low................:mad::mad:

Its usually the best way to go about sticker placement. Gives you plenty of
time to set the sticker in place. Then squeege the water off. Saves from
getting air bubbles.

YA man it works dwan dish soap is way slippery just not too much so the sticker dries well, even a blow dryer can speed up the process after squeegee but the soapy water is what window tint guys use too....

Okay
Call me stupid.........but........correct me if I am wrong. You mix a solution of soapy water (Just a couple of drops diluted). Do you then spray the screen or the sticker or both....?????
Just want to check before I screw another one up and go crazy with a hammer..........:D:eek:

In the window tinting business you would spray the window and the window film. I'm sure this would be the same. Once you put the decal on you would want to spray over the decal so that the squeegee will glide over the decal without creasing it.

When I put mine on I did not even think about using soapy water.
I used to install window tint and should have thought about it. Oh well, I got it straight after a couple of attempts.:D

Thats exactly right, use 3-5 drops of dawn soap in a spray bottle like 409. Spray the back of the sticker and the wind screen where the sticker is to be placed, spray the hell out of them.
as you are aligning the sticker, you can periodically pray the sticker and the windscreen to keep it wet so you can move it around.
when it is in the spot that you want, squeegy the sticker starting from the middle and working to the outside on one side the middle to the outside to the other side.
i find using a credit card works the best, it helps keep air bubbles out.
then let it dry or use a light blow dryer.
oh, and i quit smoking 5 months ago and it still sucks. everyone at work smokes and makes me want to come at them like a spider monkey.

the best way to do it......use soap, dish wash soap, ....it is very fine. spray the soapy water on the plastic not on the decal.....then place the decal....start moving it around to your taste.....it would work very goo to squeze the soapy water out.....with a small squege....those squeges are sold on stores..... it wont dry or affect the adhesive on the decal.
i think i got a kit in my garage some where.

technically the the best solution is baby shampoo or baby wash becuase the formula in the dish soap leaves a white residue or hayze between vinyl/window film. the proper mixture for this 3 cap full of baby shampoo to 1 bottle of water. this is now refered to as your slip solution.
keep in mind to clean hands and windscreen so that you dont get any contamination stuck between the vinyl and screen.

With the double bubble, did anyone have to do anything different to make it fit all the way across since there's a hump there compared to the stock windscreen? Like stretching it? Or does it not make a difference?

No modifications required to the bike. The manufacturers are smarter than that... it's a simple bolt-on procedure.

What I meant was...do you have to stretch the sticker across the "bubble" on the windscreen. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

I heard of a guy that was goin to make longer ones to fit the Double Bubble
screen and sell them on Ebay. Just looked and couldnt find them, maybe just
keep an eye out there. But no, I dont think the stocker fits it right.

This is where you should have stopped. Creating the two new threads to ask this question again is rather annoying.
Notice that your questions were answered here. The two other threads were completely unnecessary. I understand that you asked about a taller screen in the other, but a search would've revealed tons of other threads on that topic as well.
Forgive me seeming brash, and a bit of a pr|ck. But jeezus man, learn some forum etiquette.
--POSTED IN BOTH THE OTHER NEW THREADS--
OK, since no one else ever says anything, I will say it for another newb.
Posting a question in the original thread about a topic, and then starting two more brand new threads to ask the same exact question again will not get you answers any faster.
All it does is annoy the hell out of the people that actually read every thread and try their best to answer your questions.
Now, instead of having one good thread on the topic, we've got 3. And two of them were started by the same person after posting in the original.
STOP!!

Forum Etiiquette? Is a forum not about asking, sharing, helping folks out, especially the Newbies. Regardless of how many topics are covering same subjects folks are going to ask the same questions when they are new to certain type motorcycles and or new to the forum. It is going to happen. If you want a perfect world you are only fooling yourself. Brash? Your borderline being an ass by calling me annoying. How about just sending me a private message and opening up a positive dialogue instead of attempting to belittle me on the open forum. How about you practicing what you preach about Forum Etiquette? Salv, what did you do?
I just took my time and had to problems. I used painters tape to figure out exactly how I wanted it to line up and put it on the bike real quick to make sure it lined up with the front cowl. I was using a Puig doublebubble sticker (modified) on a no-name almost-doublebubble. By playing around a bit I got it to all line up, then I just slowly peeled the backing away from one side as I guided it. I think in one spot I did have to pull it back up a bit, but patience was the key for me.
I didn't use water or anything else. I also asked Toptaz (who I got mine from) to throw in a 2nd one for free just in case I screwed it up. I think he just charged me a few extra $$ (like 5-10) for the 2nd one.

Well, I messed it up! The water and soap method works great for finding the correct position, however, I just couldn't make the sticker flat. When the white part was flat, the bottom red part had air bubbles and folds. Eventually, while trying to get the bubbles out with a credit card, a couple of folds developed in the bottom red part of the sticker and I damaged one of the with the card..
I don't know what went wrong? Too much water perhaps? Or too less? Is it necessary to also spray the sticker?
