I have never installed flush mounts on a bike and I would like the blink rate to be stock but my friend told me that the cheap resistors that come with most of the kits will burn the inside of your plastics because they produce excess heat. Anyone ever experience this or have any kind of problems using the resistors or does this guy not know what he is talking about, he thinks he is the god of bikes or something like that?

Not only do the resistors get super hot, but they have solid wire leads on them that break. Mine didn't even make it thru the install. I ordered one from ebay, but haven't had time yet to install.

Thanks for the link I went ahead and bought one...I figured why not twenty something dollars. PM me to let me know if you install them anytime soon and how it went.

Something to add I was just wondering how many have your flush mounts wired in as running lights and blinkers?

When I changed my rear light I initially wrapped the resistors in fibreglass cloth to retain the heat. I had the same trouble, that has already been mentioned, with wires breaking off.

Last night I re-attached all the wires and wrapped them in heat insulation I got from the factory next door. They make the insulation for jet engines...

If anyone needs any let me know, just need to cable tie it around the resistors............no burnt plastic..........:D

+1 for the Protons. I ordered a new flasher relay that plugs directly into

the stock plug and it evened out the flash rate also. It was like $20

I also plan to get the Proton signals for the front. I will be using the LEDs mounted in the passenger pegs from Tripage.com for rear signals. I believe that the Protons have a built in regulator to resist fast flash. However, I'm not sure if I will need a resistor for the rear signals. Does anyone have expirence with this combo? Will I need to install a flasher relay and, if so, where is this located on the 2007 CBR1000RR?:confused2: Thanks for any help.

I have the protons on strobe mode and the flash rate is faster then normal even on the rear! if I put hazards on it slows back to normal????????:confused2:

You will need to buy one of these which replaces your stock relay.

It's actually behind the left mid fairing by the fuse panel, much easier than between the headlights on the '05. ;)

Thanks BK. I down loaded a PDF Service Manual and was using it to take the bike apart/locate stuff. Unfortunately, I had been told that the 04-05 manual was same as 06-07. Had the front plastic off, digging for that stupid relay.:censored: I'll be getting my Protons from the repsolstore and noticed a plug-n-play relay/resistor/regulator there as well. Will this work same as the part in the link from your post?

The one Repsol Store sells looks to have proper plug, so it should be plug and play.

Got my Protons(repsolstore) and my powdercoated passenger pegs w/LED from Tripage. The flasher relay was on back order so I did install without it. All works well with Protons set to strobe and rear LEDs blinking at what appears to be normal rate. I'll try to get some pics up soon. My home PC is toast and I can't transfer pics to work PC. By the way, Tristan's work is top notch. Thanks!! :D

Just to add my 2 cents in regarding that flasher relay......I read somewhere you have one flasher relay for the front indicators and one for the back? Is that true? Or is there just that one flasher relay behind left mid fairing as Big Kahuna menstioned that affects front and rear? Personally it doesnt make sense to me that there would be 2 flasher relays.....think maybe someone is telling porky pies!! :P

Don't the watsen's have built in resistor's, I have a set, but not installed. Hell, they have been sitting for about about as long as those wheels from BK I bought. I do know that the watsens can be set to run the daytime running light feature the bike comes with. Don't know if they all do or not though.

There is just one. Thats the best way to go. Resistors are a pain to wire in and get hot as hell.

I wish we had the pass flash trigger. Here in California people think the left lane is for sight seeing. Also, I do not think turn signals should be sold on cars here as hardly anyone seems to use them/know they are there. They should be sold as an option.

Mate of mine here fitted police style strobe lights on his R1. Nice thought and people cannot get out the way quick enough, but I have enough trouble with the law already!
