My Dell laptop got a virus and I need to format and recover OS.
Dell wants to charge and send out the disc....but I need my laptop in working order ASAP. :(
It was suppose to have Vista basic DVD included.
I have an Dell OEM XP Pro to trade...XP is great to use until ALL the Vista updates are provided.
This Pro disc came with my Dimension tower.

Damn, sorry about your virus. I dont have the disc you need but I do have great advice for the future........dump the pc and get yourself a mac!;) You will have far far fewer problems if any.
p.s. please dont take my remark as a snide one, I truly believe getting a mac would make your life easier:)

Do you not use system restore?

I never use system restore anymore...tried it a few times in the past and it didnt work for sh*t.
The partition that Dell puts on the hard drive was lost when I wiped the drive clean once I got the laptop.
I dont like all the unnecessary programs and junk that they put on their machines.
All I run is the OS, Office, Nero, PowerDVD, and a couple other programs.
