This might be a silly question but here it goes. Do you think it would be weird if I put a strip of that pipe thread tape (the kind you use for a gas dryer) on the screw of my Lockheart Phillips Swing arm sliders. It seems to me that it would just ensure that it would not come off? Or maybe I'm just thinking way outside the box here! Suggestions, Comments but only if they are posative......:confused2:

What's wrong with a couple drops of LockTite?

I suppose nothing but I just don't have any of that in my garage however I do have the tape. Hahahaha! Matter a fact I don't have anything in my garage besides a new bike. The rest of my household goods are still in the middle of the ocean somewhere on it's way from Japan.

Before I finished reading that sentence I was like :eek: :D

I'm honestly not sure what kind of pipe tape you're talking about. If it's Teflon tape, I wouldn't do it. That stuff is made to prevent water from leaking between the threads of a plumbing fitting, not to prevent the pipes from loosening.

It's just swing-arm sliders, hold off on the install until you have a moment to stop by the auto parts store and get some locktite.

I stripped the thread on my right side frame slider and could not get a nut behind the frame to hold it. I used the pipe tape and it worked like a charm. Frame slider has been tight for over a month now.
But LockTite is the best way to go, just be careful forcing the bolt too much.

Teflon tape is a lubricant not a threadlock or sealant.

I hate when I'm told this, I know it's true, but it sure seems to me like it's a sealant. Don't use it on a water fitting and you'll have a leak!

You'll only get a leak if you don't know what you are doing.........:D
The biggest user of this tape is "PLUMBERS" and I truely do believe, or it could be just a rumour, they deal with water..........

Never said it was a threadlock, but since I over-tightened mine it worked great. Hey cheap fix for me trying to play HULK.
