Alright what am I doing wrong my right thumb and pointer finger are falling asleep on my new 1000rr. Again I just graduated to it from the 00 929 I had in Japan. Do I need to invest in some diffrent grips or something. Or simply change up my grip? Am I doing something wrong?

It's called vibration... one of the joys of owning a modern-day (lightweight) sport bike.
My right hand is constantly going numb... plus you can't really take your hand off the throttle very often to keep the blood circulating. Combine that with the vibration, you've got the perfect recipe for a numb hand (or at least part of your hand). Notice your left hand doesn't go numb as often - mostly because you are free to move your left hand around a lot more than the right... keeps the blood flowing.
You can buy heavier bar ends to cancel some of the vibration. I've heard recommendations of filling the inside of the clip-on with plumbers foam, putting fishing weights inside the clip-on, etc. Anything to change the harmonic frequency of the clip-on to try and cancel the vibration.
I plan to buy the heavier bar-ends to try and remedy the problem...

Have you had the bike on an extended ride with the new grips?
Did your right hand tend to go numb before the new grip install? If so, did the new grip install cure, or at least improve the comfort level? Again, talking long distance here. My hand usually doesn't go numb on the shorter commutes to work and such, just on longer rides.

I didnt have your problem but I decided to change grips because the original ones were hard as hell...no cushion at all.
I went to Cyclegear, which is a local shop for me, and purchased these:

I think they helped and for only 5.00 bucks...not much of a loss if they hadnt.

Did you ever consider putting risers on?

Numb hands or not, I refuse to get risers or foam grips.
Both of which my dad put on his 1100XX which is why I could not bring myself to do it. I will not succumb to being or feeling old. Look past the pain! (for a few more years anyway)
