The good folks at Repsol have decided to allow the members here the exclusive opportunity to join them at their hospitality tent during the MotoGP race weekend.
Pics from last year:
1476 1477 1478
So what does that mean for you:
3 Day Repsol Hospitality Tent Access (food, drinks, umbrella girls and Nicky:))
3 Day Special Parking Pass (at the tent)
And if your don't already have the following, they will be provided:
3 Day General Admission
3 Day Paddock Pass
They would like to have the bikes there for all three days so if you're planning on riding your Repsol to the track and would like awesome parking, food, drink and enjoy the races like never before, PM me for more details.
Congratulations to the following members who made the list:
1. Eazy Repsol - '05
2. OCRepsol - '05
3. Borofc - '07
4. krzbrit - '07
5. 1eyebrother - '07 (coming from Idaho)
6. ZZGIXXER - '05
7. Repsol47 - '05
8. jbigelow - '07
9. xasper - '07
10. jquick - '07
Sorry to those who didn't get on the list, but we will keep you all as alternates in the event that one of the above cannot make it. Robert has posted some good information about the event regarding security and room accommodations.
If you are headed to the races this year, please take a few minutes to read up on the following:

I don't want to come across as selfish here, but isn't the point of this offer to get the Repsol bikes at the hospitality area. I really believe that those that can get a motorcycle there should have the priority. How are we as a group rewarding Repsols generosity if 20 people and one motorcycle show up? When Indianapolis gets the GP, I'll be faced with the same problem..but I'm already planning on how to get the bike there.
Just my 2cents...no disrespect intended.

The question was tongue in cheek. I don’t even want to think about the numb butt from riding that bike across the US of A! Might be able to trailer to Indy, though.

Okay, I'll be sending out more information to those who have PM'd me their request.
But... let me answer some questions:
You must ride your Repsol to the track all three days and park them at the Repsol tent for most of the day each day.
The ticket, paddock pass and admission to the hospitality tent are for the rider only, no guests will be permitted. You don't have to stay at the Repsol tent the entire day, just your bike.
I need a firm commitment from those who are interested before tickets will be sent.
This is a big opportunity for us to really make a showing there at the races. I NEED only those who are serious about this as I don't want to be stood up that weekend and look like a fool in front of Repsol.
This is a very generous off they are extending to us, I want to make sure we do this right. I'm sorry for those that want to attend but may not have a bike, or can't get your bike to the track. They want a selection of bikes on display, we are merely vehicles to get them there. :)
Let's do this right guys/gals, Repsol is giving us a great opportunity here!!!!

BorofcWell, it is a tough request, three full days your bike would have to be there, and then there is the guest thing. We have to remember that it's not personal. Repsol has the tent for its own purposes, a corporate establishment for its own means. There is nothing wrong with that and they need to get people in there that can benefit their brand.
I think it's an incredible gesture even to offer admission tickets including paddock as well as incredible parking and tent access for one. Remember, they need to provide food and drink for all those who enter for the entire weekend, I'm sure that would be a pretty large number if everyone brought a guest to the table. :)
Even I'm having some problems working it out, but I'm still hoping to be one of the lucky ones there at the races with my Repsol in the Hospitality area.

I hope you'll make it too as it would be a shame if you didn't...and trust me, my contact at Repsol is limiting this because he must. He's getting hundreds of requests for tent access, and is already over subscribed and over budget and that's just for his distributors and dealers.
I would allow guests and wives if it were up to me, but it's not. I will enjoy the gift that Repsol gave me and the tent is a definite luxury, but I will spend plenty of time enjoying the paddock, the many viewing areas around the track and the vendor areas too.
Thank you to all who understand the situation, and please also know that Repsol will give all owners who display their bikes at the tent a Repsol goody bag of Repsol swag as an additional thank you.
I look forward to seeing all of you at the track and on Cannery Row, which is designed specifically for we enthusiasts WHERE THE REAL PARTY WILL BE!

This is one of the most tempting deals I've seen in a long time... but tha lack of a tow vehicle (yeah, I'm not riding that far!), the vacation I've already got planned for early August, and the general lack of funds make this one a bit difficult to achieve.
Now, if there were a couple other folks from Texas going... and they wanted to carpool to save fuel, lodging costs, etc.....

Any word on if we can commit to 2 days instead of 3?
We are only 3 bikes from the goal as of last night, and while I would love to be in the position to say yes, I must follow the guidelines set by Repsol. The only way I could see this potentially working is if somebody committed to teaming up with another rider who wanted Friday only, but that seems totally implausible, and frankly it would make this more difficult than it needs to be.
My suggestion would be to take a vacation day from work if at all possible, or a sick day...and take advantage of the offer, but only you know if that's within the realm of reasonable. The only day with a little flexibility is Friday when bikes could arrive later than 9AM...but no later than 11AM.
I really want everbody at the tent, but it's just not possible, and that's why Repsol is sponsoring my Saturday night event...to show appreciation to all Repsol owners. The police will allow only Repsols onto Cannery Row after the barricades are closed, which I just confirmed with Cannery Row Company this morning, so you won't have any trouble joining us Saturday.
See you there...RR

We will be sending the passes the week before the event, after doing a final confirmation with all participants.
The approximate value for this package is $500 if you don't already have tickets...but priceless when you consider the fantastic hospitality of Repsol including closed circuit TV, private grandstand at turns 9/10, unlimited beer, soda and water (which was critical in last year's heat), lunch all 3 days, a meet and greet with Nicky, Repsol's beautiful umbrella girls, and the special feeling of sharing the experience with your Repsol brothers...and sisters.

So far I have been looking for a hotel and it seems all the prices are jacked up for the weekend....I did find a hotel in San Jose for about 55.00 a night , but it is about 75 miles from Monterey....If someone has a hookup or is in need a splitting a room let me know, just need a bed to crash on and a shower in the morning is about it....
I do have a worry about the bike at night when it is not in the tent...I live in Idaho and I can literally leave my Repsol in my driveway with the key in it and it will be there in the morning...So I dont have any anti theft stuff for the bike....I heard in 05 at Laguna Seca there was over 250 bikes jacked from hotels and the Repsol ws the most popular:(....What can I do and will the bike fit in the hotel room....please help, lookin forward to meeting the other 9 riders at Laguna, going to be well worth the trip.....:D

The hotel rates are nuts, and there will be people willing to share their rooms and/or campsites for a lot less...I just hope your wife is able to handle hangin' with a bunch of smelly party animals.
As far as the theft thing, bikes do get stolen, but 250...NOT! I parked mine in the motel parking lot 2 years ago without issue. My answer was to keep mine inside my van at night last year which I'm doing this year as well. Inside a hotel room is also effective but that option is not very practical for 90% of the rooms. If you can chain it in your truck that is also a good option...
Your truck will need to be parked where the buses shuttle people in and you will need to ride the bike to the track as the parking pass is for the bike only...more route and final details will come the week before the event via PM. I will be there to support all Repsol guests every step of the way.
We re looking forward to seeing you, and get ready for a great weekend.

It looks like I am good to go....Will be heading out of Idaho Thursday July 19th and driving about 1000 miles to attend the tent.....I will be putting the bike in the back of the truck and driving....I would ride but I am bringing the wife with me....
Im riding from tracy, ca.....which is about 150-200 miles. i have checked for rooms since last month. they are all sold out. im thinking on staying in san jose i wont have to ride that far.....my concern is my bike too. i got disk locks, chains for bikes......but im thinking that perhaps i should stay some where in san jose too....instead of riding for 2-2 1/2 hours.....if you want to hook up...let me know. im still working on my trip....by the way the rooms prices.......jesus christ...can you believe it.....$425 per night....and that's cheapest that i have seen.
if you really want to hook up....let me know PM me.

I'm less than 3 hours away from laguna. I'll be there for all three days. Friday night, I have to go back home, since I have no room. I have a room reserved for only saturday night with my other riding buddies. I have my tickets and passes already, and I still would like to know if I can partcipate in the repsol event.

When you get to the Monterey area, I'd keep it to the speed limits. Last year the local police and CHP were everywhere, and were all too ready to cite you for anything and everything.
Just giving everyone the heads up.
See you there Friday morning..

Tell everybody you know with a Repsol...tell everybody you meet during the day Friday and Saturday with a Repsol...I'll be putting flyers on every Repsol at the track Friday...all parking areas...leaving flyers at the media center, and at all vendor booths.

Speaking of records...Stoner beat Nicky's qualifying record in the last 40 seconds of qualifying to take pole...after Nicky got notched by Rossi, and then Nicky hit back..and then Pedrosa knocked Vermullen of pole, and Stoner bested his own time...a great session! The front row is awesome...

Wow, that is perfect!
I swore off Laguna after last year's heat wave. I couldn't stand being at the track for more than a couple hours in the 116 degree heat. We would leave the track and go to Monterey and it was 75. I hated it, went to Barber this year instead which is where GP should have gone anyway!

Hi,
I was at the MOTO GP yesterday and saw the Repsol tent.
I have a few questions.
1) I have wanted to get a Repsol bike for a while now but have never known where they are available. Where do I get a REPSOL bike from? Or do I buy a honda and get the decals and stickers put on it???
2) Is this deal from Repsol an annual thing for Moto GP? ie: will it be there for MOTO GP 2009?
3) Lastly once I get REPSOL bike, how would I get on this for next year? And is there a Repsol club of sports in the south bay area.
Thanks for your help and input.
Benjamin. :)

You can find great deals on used Repsol's here in this forum...every now and then, somebody has to resort to selling theirs for personal reasons.
Or you can build up a CBR to resemble a Repsol by purchasing the plastics and rims.
Careful....If a certain Aussie finds out you did this...he will have your azz.
2) Is this deal from Repsol an annual thing for Moto GP? ie: will it be there for MOTO GP 2009?
Repsol Robert normally puts this event together...he has for the past 2 years....lets hope its an annual thing.
3) Lastly once I get REPSOL bike, how would I get on this for next year? And is there a Repsol club of sports in the south bay area.
To get into this event...there have only been 2 requirements, so far:
1. Have a Repsol
2. Be a active member of this forum
This year...voting for members, who applied for entry to the Repsol tent, was done by fellow members.
Thanks for your help and input.
Benjamin. :)
Hope this answered your questions.:p

This is the 2007 thread coming back to life...
There is a 2008 thread for El Torito too...and if you become and stay active on the forum you will certainly know what the plans will be for 2009...and we are already talking about them with Repsol...
But...there's still Indy before next year...
Buy a used Repsol ('05 or '07) or wait for a possible '09...not certain yet, especially with Dani falling behind due to his inability to race this weekend...if he wins a championship there is a higher likelihood of an '09 Repsol.
Be aware, my '05 is for sale...$7,900...details to follow in the For Sale section...
Cheers...RR

Hey RR,
Thanks for the info. Does your bike come with the umbrella girl in your avatar? LOL kidding :-)
Okay so if I understand right... you are saying that Repsol Hondas were made and sold stock with everything on them in 05 and 07? If that is so then that clears up part of my question about why I couldn't find any stock ones out there :)
I will watch out for them and for your bike too :) Thanks a ton.

Hope this answered your questions.:p
Thank you Anthony,
I really appreciate all the info you helped me out with especially since I am a newbie in some respects with regards to Racing etc. I have been a fan of the Repsol team for a while now and wanted a Repsol bike too, so being a member of this forum and becoming a more active member plus once I get my hands on a Repsol bike... I should be set for next years race :-)
By the way I heard that Hayden is leaving Repsol after this season? :(
Does anyone know if this is true?
Is he talking to other teams?
Thanks for your feedback :-)
Benjamin.:)

Unfortunately, Amber got married after the '06 race and retired from Umbrella Girl duty... she was a real sweetie!
You might actually find a new '07 at a dealer or two...the holdouts who think they're worth their weight in gold...I think I heard about one in Vegas this weekend.
Also, Freddie at Hollister Honda may still have one with 700 miles on it...a consignment bike...give him a call, but be sure to mention that I sent you.
Welcome to the family of Repoligans...and I hope to see you on the road with a Repsol soon...RR

Hi Robert,
I called Freddie, got his VM because it is Monday and their sales depts are closed. I left him a VM so hopefully I will hear back from him tomorrow :)
I have a quick question for you.... so were the limited edition Repsol Hondas more expensive than the regular 1000CBR's? I am guessing they were, but I was wondering by how much.
As in how much was a new Repsol Honda for 07? Just a ball park figure.
Thanks a ton,
Benjamin.
