So I had a 190/50 on for the past 3 sets of tires, and I switched up my new rear to a 190/55 and love it!
I know I'm comparing an old tire to a new one so obviously it will handle much better, but the bike does seem even more flickable than when my 190/50 was new.
I dropped my pressure in my old tires before I switched to the new one and am running about 31 pounds in each tire, as well as setting my rider sag, and the bike feels great. Throwing the bike around in the corners she is solid as it gets.. tire gets nice and hot and tacky.
I took it easy on the tire after I scrubbed it in.. for about 50 or 100 miles... just getting the feel for everything... and tried to get rid of the chicken stripes tonight... made it down to the arrows... have about an 1/8th to a 1/4 inch of stripe left... and man i dont' know how much lower I can go. (I know I can go lower... and I wasn't in a full suit so I didn't stick the knee out...)
But the guy following me said I was right down there... so I may put the suit on and see what happens.
sorry for the rambling... but had and awesome ride!!! and really like the change in tire size!
and the new chain and sprockets -1 +2 520 conversion is very nice!!! I like where the rpms are! 2nd gear is definitely much snappier!

My tyre guy talked me out of getting the 55 2CT and to get the 50.....I kinda regretted it.
You've just helped decide which way I'll go next tyre change.
Cheers mate!!

I had the 50, then went to 55, now back to 50. Its true you can flick it side to side easier with the 55, but I seem to have more control and smoothness with the 50. Also when you start to slide the rear tire, it seems to be more predictable with the 50. The 55, slides out quicker for me......I am a weenie so just my 2 cents.

perhaps I'm the weenie lol... but I thought I was riding the bish pretty hard.. with none of this sliding you speak of!:D
had a lot of twitching and quick slips on my last tire as it was getting older... but hardly a wiggle out of the new one yet.

there are a lot more variables that go into play that just what lean angle you are at.
I'm not to worried... there are still stripes, and I would think I would be scraping a stock peg before I hit that point.

I reckon you'd be scraping your elbow at 50.5 degrees.

this isn't even 50.5... and I'm positive my pegs would be hitting before this. and I can't ride anything like this!

I went with the 55 last year and love it. I also can roll through the turns without getting close to the edge of the tire

went out and rode for a while tonight.... got the first real slip out of the tire... didn't get rid of the stripes, but the slip was mostly my fault...
It was a decreasing radius turn I have ridden a few times... had been through there earlier and had checked for gravel and all that jazz...
Got into the corner a little hot, threw the bike over... and not really sure why but I got out of the throttle slightly as I was right about the middle of the turn as it tightens up... wasn't running wide or anything, but as soon as the load came off the engine the whole suspension changed, slipped the rear and the front followed... .. I eased back in the throttle and she hooked right back up and rolled out no problem... but I think my heart skipped a beat!
but the point where I got out of the throttle really changed the handling through the corner.

awesome man, thier was this one time that I found out what a slipper clutch actually does..Remember I dont ahvbe a slipper clutch..I was hittin a decreasing radius just like u but instead of rolling off the throttle I down shifted..BIG MISTAKE:eek:,my arse end twitched I endeup having to come out of lean and kick my foot out and ride it like a dirtbike in a drift..I now learned my lesson on that..Now before I hit the turn I down shift or stay on the throttle and lean harder..I also fan the clutch too while in turn to kinda keep in the power band
