I just bought this bike on August 3rd of this year; it only has 60 miles and it is in perfect condition. The bike hasn’t been dropped or damaged in any way and I hate to see it go, but I’ve been presented with a great opportunity to expand my business and I need the money I spent on my bike to do so.

This Limited Edition motorcycle retails for $15,750.00 out the door, but I am dropping the price down for the little miles I put on it. Call me so you can see it and fall in love with this beauty like I did. If you are interested call me at (310)801-9462, but please don’t waste your time or mine with crazy offers.

Bummer...you paid too much dude...nobody I know has paid even close to that for a Repsol...please post the VIN # so we know which number in the special "limited edition" run it is.

I'm not going to make an offer, but people will want to know the VIN #.

What dealer did you buy it from so I can steer all of our Repsol buddies away from the highway robbery you suffered...

Good Luck with the new biz...RR

I paid $11,100 for my 05 brand new out the door in 2005. And when i ordered our 07 it was gonna be $11,995. So ya. . . i'm sorry you got robbed!:o
You might be seeing bikes advertise for that much but not selling.

I know in Canada bikes are alot more expensive than in the U.S. Hard to budge too, especially if they have to order the bike for you (Repsol). Bikes are selling for around what he says. About 15G's Canadian + all the rest of the BS they add on.

i just talked to a local honda sales manager and he said" all dealerships have can mark up limited edition bikes because they are in high demand." for all the other buyers that purchased thier 07's for retail which is $500 more then a regular 1000rr those dealerships sold the bike at list price. but anyways hope things work out for you.

Hi Tanaxo

You paid way over what most CA dealers were charging out of the door.

The price you are asking is what most people paid O.T.D then the buyer is going to have to pay tax !!!!

You are going to have to lower your price or you are not going to sell it.

Just my 2 cents

To all other members outside of CA....we get screwed here due to the EPA regulations. The only state in the US that has different rules. Can't bring a bike from another state unless it has 4000 miles on it.....WTF as if that is going to change the emissions...........:confused2:

Bikes in Canada are expensive.. I got raped too, but I didn't care. I wanted the bike(2005) :D $500 deposit to track one down for me and get it. $16000 +Taxes.. that's a lot man. Should of been like 14 + Taxes if you bought it in Canada.

I don't want to rain on your parade...but.... I paid a LOT less than $14,000 out the door, taxes and fees included. And that's in So.Cal.
There are some "dealers" (I use the term VERY loosely), that were asking $15,500 out the door. They still have the bikes in the showroom, waiting for someone to come and get the "last on in the US". HA!!
Sadly, you got ripped, and shame on the dealers, and Honda for allowing this. The old adage "buyer beware" ALWAYS applies when dealing with sought-after bikes, cars ..etc.
I think a good price would be in the $11,500 range, since this would be allow someone to pay the taxes, and remain under the new dealer OTD price.
Good luck, and I hope you don't have to take too big of a hit on it.

Regards,
Colin.

ps...I got mine just 3 months ago when they were supposedly "all gone". Good dealers are out there, I found one. If, for future purchases, you want the name of a good Honda dealer in So Cal, drop me a PM, and I'll be happy to share.

I've never posted in someone's "for sale" thread about their price, but since everyone else is doing it...

I paid $500 less than that for mine brand new. I know MEGA is asking $8,500 and it hasn't sold after being on the market for months now... there's no way a bike should bring more money used than it costs most people new.

Man, I hope you sell it and expand your business but you can find them for 10,500 or 11,000 from some dealers and just get the bike shipped to you. Like someone else sadi, I don't think you'll get morre than what 99% of present repsol owners paid for their bike new. Good luck!!!!!

Alright I gotta chime in here. First of all, Cali residents, including myself, are usually subject to higher prices. I did a fair share of research for the 07 Repsol...called over 40 dealerships to get the cheapest OTD price, and the cheapest I found was $13,291 at Glendale Honda. Unfortunately i couldnt buy it at that time and it sold.

Honda of Hollywood sold 3 of them for $18,000...I repeat, $18,000!!! And just a month or so ago right before I found mine at Palmdale Honda I gave Hollywood another call and they had one left and were still asking 18k for it. I said "go f*ck yourselves!"

The only other handful of dealerships in CA that still had any wanted anywhere from $14,500 - $16,000 OTD. I bought mine for $13,637.27 OTD and I feel ok about it. At least they gave me the racing spools, seat cowl, and rear stand with it. I think any Cali resident that got their 07 brand new for under 13k OTD is lucky. To buy one for 10.5k from another state wouldve ended up costing the same anyway after taxes and all the trouble, plus you cant bring the bike into CA until, I believe, it has 7,000 miles on it.

That is just crazy....the dealership here has one ( the one I ordered but didnt buy because of issues with them) .. they are asking 10,500 for it right now...shoot I might buy it and put it n ebay or something.....:D

Bought mine from Honda of Houston in May 07. $10,499 + TT&L, about $11,300 or so OTD I believe. They had 5 more of them at the time.

Hand picked #0906 because it had a variation of 69 in it!

bikes in california have to have the plate on it that they meet the CARB standards for the state. Our bikes have the 4.5gal tank instead of the 5 gal due to the charcoal canister and smog stuff on the bike.

if you check the plate on your bike and if it says that meets california smog or carb law then it wont be a problem bringing it to cali.

We woke everyone up and they all came out of thier houses wondering what was going on. I thought it was funny as crap, this was back in 94-95. I guess they thought they were being invaded or something.

well the air quality on the beach is awesome, it's when you go into the valley in LA is when it gets crappy.

I just dont understand how they can treat a bike the way they do. they aren't as bad with cars as they are with bikes. at least with a car you hook the sniffer up and it passes then your good to go. there is no way to hook a sniffer up to a bike, well at least i have never heard of a bike being smog checked.

so they wont let a bike into cali if it is not 50 states legal or if it has a certain amount of miles on it.

We spent all our time off down by you and down to imperial beach. And ya i agree about the smog thing, the sniffer says if a car passes but if you dont pass the visual on a bike your s**t out of luck.

You hook a bike up to an exhaust sniffer the same way you do a car. It has a probe that goes into the can and reads air to fuel ratio. If it doesnt meet a certain standard it will fail. Its the same way the tell when mapping your bike on a dyno they are trying to get thge optimum burn ratio.

I called around to a lot of smog places here in san diego and orange county, they all say that they dont have a smog standard to follow for bikes, the only standard is the 7500 miles.

so they dont actually smog the bike at all they just go off of mileage.

7500 miles doesn't sound too bad i guess, seems like it is about 1/4 of the bikes life.

Heck no man...

If so, my '01 would've died 2 years ago. squidracers '96 would've died 50k miles ago. Big Kahuna's '98 would've died 25k+ miles ago... I could go on an on.

These things live a long time if you give 'em a little TLC when you should.

I dont know how many times I have to remind everyone that we who live in California (well, Bay Area and SoCal at least) typically pay A LOT more for our bikes. Thats just how it is here....the price we pay I guess for having the best weather? I called over 40 dealerships in the state before I found the cheapest one I could find which was $13.6K (including seat cowl and rear stand) and I was happy to buy it. Honda of Hollywood sold 3 of em for $18k!! I know thats extreme and ridiculous but most all other places I called were sellin em for at least $15k.....so, it's all relative....$14k for a Cali Repsol aint that bad IMO.

Christian,
Don't get your panties in a wad, I am only making light of the fact that you announced on a public forum that you got screwed on your purchase of your 1st 07 Repsol and seemed adamant on defending your overpriced purchase even when people in your area told you that you payed too much. Let me break it down for you:

Pretend you are a purchasing agent next time you decide to buy a bike (shop around).

I know it is your $$$, but my pet peeve is seeing money wasted mine or not.....

I was in no way trying to offend you, but rather make you see a point that everyone else was trying to make also. (but you missed it).

Jealous of? Not throwing away money a second time? Damn, you are right, I sure wish I did that. Wait, let me go withdraw $3000 and burn it in the back yard, and follow up by burning another 2000 a few months later, change my sons name to Ducati, then I can be just like you!

The only posts this dumbass has are all here in this thread. Not even in the newbie area or anything to introduce himself. Join a forum just to post a for sale ad. Most forums won't let you post until you have been a member for a period of time and have a minimum amount of posts.

His very first post was to come here and tell us how he would drop the price a little from the 15,750.00 he paid. Then after it was clear he had no buyers dumb enough to bite, he left.

Now he comes back, continues to only post in this thread, accuses members here of lying and making up stories about what they paid for thier bikes (no doubt to further justify the fact that he got screwed TWICE by the same dealer), has a son named Gixxer  (and if that is not a joke he needs to be committed along with his wife), and on top of all that he doesnt even like football (or any sports for that matter).

Is it me or is there something seriously wrong with him? :confused2:

I am going to go back to work now because I have better things to do than going back and forth about this. Moreover, it was OUR money and business is going great; we have the money to spend; we got what we wanted and we are happy.

Good Luck & Goodbye!!! :cool:Exactly!!!!

Look guys, Christian leads his own life, makes his own decisions and spends his own money. What does it matter how much he paid, as long as he is happy with the outcome. The bike is worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay, end of story. I have grown accustom to paying more for bikes here in California, when I see them go for much cheaper out of state. It's the way it is sometimes, but as long as the buyer is happy then so be it.

Christian, I hope you decided to stay, especially since you are once again a Repsol owner. Don't let the guys get you down, go out and enjoy your new ride!

BK, you are right about one thing, it IS his money. However, as I pointed out earlier, he joined originally for ONE reason, to sell his bike. His first post was in the for sale section. You KNOW that in almost any other forum he would have been publically hammered by everyone just for doing that, and in some forums, suspended for it. Pretty much everyone, including you BK, told him he was asking way too much for a used Repsol, even in CA. So he got mad and left.

Now he has a new one and he is back. Where does he go first? Right back to this thread to immediately continue where he left off, arguing that he got a great deal. Did he ever post anywhere else but this stupid thread? No. Did he come back and say "hi", introduce himself, ANYTHING friendly or outgoing? No. He did however say people here tell stories, lies, etc. Did he do anything to be a part of this forums community? Again, No.

I for one could care less if he leaves. In fact, I prefer he stays gone. First impressions are everything, and he had two chances and blew it twice (repetition seems to be a character flaw).

He may be a Repsol owner, but it doesn't automatically make him one of us.

I don't know where you get your info from, but if you call the dealers or visit them you'll see I got a good deal. You can't compare old models or used bikes to a brand new 2007. Moreover, I sold the bike for more than that and I expanded my business; my wife felt bad and she got me a brand new one at the same dealer for $13,000 since we had recently bought the first...ha,ha,ha...:D

I got my new '07 for $11,600 and thought I was getting a little hosed, but it was the only dealer in town selling them and wasn't worth the drive to the midwest to save another 800 bucks or so. That was about 4 months ago.

If you sold yours for more than the suggested retail of $11,999 you found a sucker or a guy with too much money to care.

Hi Guys

Just to put a spin on the numbers, here in Oz you can get a tidy '04-'05 Repsol with under 6000km on it for around $13500AUD ($11800USD), or a new '07 Repsol from around $18000+AUD ($15840USD).

This assumes and exchange rate of 0.88 to the Dollar.

If my numbers are right :confused2:, sounds like you guys get them resonably cheap over there.........of course, I have no idea what the cost of living is or the average wage is.

Again here in Oz, I think it would be fair to say the average wage is $55000AUD/year ($48000USD) and to fill the tank on the Repsol costs approx $15AUD ($13.20USD). - Would other Aussie "Repsolians" agree?

How does this compare with US wages/fuel price?

wank.. try $20/tank + allow another $5 for 250ml of silkolene proboost.. that works out to $25/tank for mine ... & when i am riding hard i can empty that in 90kms (one particular road i enjoy i do this regularly) wanna come for a ride down the brookton hwy with me Ian?

Sorry forgot, you Southerners don't get the fuel subsidy......oh well they dont call Queensland paradise for nothing........;)

On a serious note though, have you ever tried Proma fuel additive, it works out at around $1.20 a hit and I run it in the car and the bike - apparently reverse engineered from the aircraft industry.

I always fill up as soon as the warning light hits so I would agree that at empty it takes a bit more fuel. I seem to get 180 - 200km per tank you say you get - 90km - that's some hard core riding. Hey as long as your having fun right.....

One thing we need to remember boyz is the popularity=supply and demand.

In Europe and Down Under Moto GP is much more popular then it is here in the States. Now if we were talking NASCAR replicas, holy crap every banjo playing redneck here in the south would own one with spit stains down the drivers side door and fishing poles/gun racks mounted on the back.

I've had my Rep for about a week and when I rode it to work out of all who came to look at it (and there we're plenty) only 2 of them had any idea about the Repsol Replica and the story behind it. I mention Nicky Hayden, Val Rossi, Casey Stoner, Danny Pedrosa etc. most people go......um......WHO? :confused2:

To which I say..ARE YOU FRIGGIN' KIDDING ME???

Oh wait, how about Jr. or Gordon, maybe Stewart? Ah, now bells are ringing.

When Moto GP gains more popularity here, so will the prices being charged for the Replica bikes. O.K. I'm done.....I'll get off now.:soapbox:

Well heres a NASCAR "replica" lacks a hell of a lot of the decals that a real cup car would have. Its going

a little more than the price of a Repsol. Looks pretty clean to me too. Im just sayin.....

One thing we need to remember boyz is the popularity=supply and demand.

First off, I'm riding a LOLercopter since this thread came back to life.

Second, the argument above holds merit in some cases, but not this one.

The rule of supply and demand would apply here if the bike were in short supply (we know that's not the case) and the demand were so high that dealers were taking the highest bid for the bike, or there were a waiting list.

My dealership had one Repsol on the floor and SIX sitting in crates upstairs (I took one of those for less than the MSRP for a standard RR).

The fact that most members on this board paid less than MSRP for their bike and this Tanaxo guy paid $5k over MSRP is what makes this thread such a laugh. The Tanaxo guy got ripped off, plain and simple.

But, like BK said, the guy is happy with the bike and obviously feels like he got a good deal, so be it.

Repsoul

Good point TX.

Just to piggy back on what you said:

True demand was high in some places but on the other side of the coin there are still brand new ones sitting on the showroom floors that dealers are asking 13,900 OTD or higher. Most of our overseas brethren would give a body part to pay that much where they are because again, Moto GP is much more popular there.

Bottom line, even though he's as happy with his bike as we are with ours, dude still could've found a better deal. Oh well, party on Wayne!!

the million dollar question is though what would you pay for one, sure everyone loves a deal, but .......

assume for a moment you are standing in front a 07 Repsol, brand new, at an auction, 50 other hopefulls around..........how high would you go..........or for those of you more passionate ........hope deep is your love (or your pocket for that matter),

this should be interesting.........

There's a loophole in your hypothetical... I'd watch some idiot pay an outrageous price for the bike at auction and then go to a dealership and get one for less than MSRP. ;):p

And if the bike were going to cost me significantly more than a standard RR, I'd either get the standard RR or plop down the larger amount for a Aprilia Mille R.

Flame suit prepared --the REPSOL is not worth several thousand more than a standard RR.

I agree that the bike (personally) is worth what the buyer wants to pay but as P.T. Barnum said "there's a sucker born every minute"...we have all been taken at sometime but the trick is to admit it to ones self and move on.

That said....$14,000 is too much.....

Ah, yes the debate continues. IF the Repsols were significantly more than a standard RR, aside from the fact that most people here would rip you new one for having a "fakesol", why not just buy a standard and put on Rep plastics? Most people on the streets wouldn't know the difference. Another monkey wrench thrown in to the mix. :D

KBB lists the '07 Repsol at $9,645.00, but it's worth what anyone will pay for it. When I was looking for my '05 back in the summer of '06, Repsols were going for $12,000. People who listed their bikes below that, were quickly offered more. I lost one Repsol to a guy who offer $1,500 more than what we had agreed upon. Like it or not, both Repsol years are sought after by those who love them. If you truly found a clean '05 Repsol for $7,000, you should jump on it cause that would be the deal of the century around here.
