Wanna sell those stock Battlax tires? PM me if you are interested, I don't think they are bad for my style of riding and could always use another set in the garage. Let me know......

I actually like the BT-014 tires on my 900, but they didn't last very long. I switched back to the Avon Azaro 45/46 tires which last twice as long without losing grip. :)

I'm wondering how the BT-014 would do on the 1000. Much more power to the ground than the 900, but I bet they will hold their own pretty well.

Soon as I wear out my Bridgestones I am going to get some Michelin Pilot Powers 2CT.....My buddy is the Michelin rep for Idaho and Utah and will give them to me at cost. I had a pair on 04 1000rr end of last season and they were sweet......Michelin were testing the tires down in Utah at Miller motorsports park and my buddy gave me a set that was used for about 5 laps....:D

You want to talk about worthless stock tires, my RC51 came with Metzelers. There was a red logo on the tires that said "RACE" and boy I tell you what, sticky when hot but like ice when wet. Oh yeah, had to replace the rear at 2000 miles with very little hard riding on them (at $210 for the rear only).

I too have the Michelin Pilot Powers 2CT.

Haven't really got a chance to give them a real test. Either the weather was bad here or way to busy to give it the attenton it deserves.
But soon, very soon. I'll let you know what I find out, and pass it on

Put 9k on the stock Pirellis and then went to the Continental Conti Sport Attacks. I wanted the Pilot 2Ct but didn't want to fork over the cash. And then the recall...:eek:The reviews said the Sport Attacks were just as good as the Pilot 2CTs; for dollars less.
They were excellent on the track and have been holding up pretty well on the road. Nearly 4k on 'em now and barely the infamous flat strip yet.

I've got Dunlop GP209s... changed to a 190/60 rear...still haven't come close to the edge on that one...but had the Pirelli Corsa Diablos before and they were quite forgiving, and easy to lean all the way over.

Having a track day in a week, and I'll get all the way over on them there.

i have michelling pilot power....comparing them to metzelers after running metzelers for 15 years.....i have to admit....i like michellins. after running 9k -10500 rpms, and taking corners like riding on rails....michellins are very good tires, not only that....but the center of the tires, they do hold very good.

i used dunlops about 10 years ago....i did not like them at all. had a set brand new...give them away and got myself a set of new metzelers.....that was back in 1994-96 if i recall correctly.

I've heard lots of negative about Dunlops...mainly because they aren't as perfectly round as other tires and require a little more weight during balancing...but my tires are the same ones Ben Spies used last year...he seemed to like 'em...:D This pair actually had his name on them...I know the Dunlop guy who hooked me up.

I really question your logic here.

You say you used them 10 years ago... do you realize how far tire technology (and everything else motorcycle related) has progressed in the last ten years?

Comparing a Dunlop, Metzeler, Pirelli, etc. to the same manufacturer's tire from ten years ago is a complete farce.

I gotta ask you bud is the 190/55 worth the money? I only ask because sometimes you can get those set deals for a lot better price.

Also not to change the subject but I was thinking about trying out the Dunlop's only because I could get both front and rear for $200.00 but I really liked the Pilot Power 2ct's on my 929 and my new 07 CBR 1000rr tires have 7200 miles on them so I need to decide quick....

I always ran 2CT or Pilot Race on track, as we all know not too cheap. I listened to a friend out in Europe and bought my first pair of Battlax BT002, soft race. What a tire oh and did I mention cheap.
Also they make great street tires after track use. I wouldnt recommend them for rain though, just a touch too slippery.

I've always like the Michelins, just prefer the Bridgestones. I don't care for the 014 like i did the 010. But 002's are my choice! The OEM Pirellis were a good street tire, even on SMR's but weren't up to a really fast track day.

They probably improve over the OEM fit 014's , maybe the general market 014's, which are different. But I think the 002's will give any Michelin a run anytime. That said, confidence in your tires is everything. Even if they are good, if you don't trust 'em it'll affect your riding. Enjoy you Michelins, I have rode a K5 Gixxer thou and thought they worked great.

3 hard track days, at a fast 2.9 mile track. Technical infield, long straight. Street riding I got about 4-5k out of 'em. Ride smooth and they work fine in the rain too.

I just got back from running my Dunlops at the track, and they were much stickier than my Pirelli Diabo Corsas which left darkies everywhere I went.

I have about 3,000 street miles on them...a full track day, and I'm doing another track day later this month...plus a lot of spirited street riding in between.

I like them, and finally got them all the way over to the edge...no slips, no slides, no worries...

I'm not putting down the Corsas...they are very forgiving tires and warn you when they're loosing traction...great backroad tires and reasonable tread wear...I usually got about 3-4K on the rear and more than that on the front...with very spirited riding.

Yea I just wanted a little bit more stick going up Palomar Mt. So I hope these are the answer to include the great deal I got on them. A good friend of mine just hit up Willow Springs the other day for the first time and he came back with the biggest smile on his face and a lot of good knowledge for us to help inprove our riding skills. ive just after getting the new Pirelli corsa III ant they are great! soft outside hard in the centre. i tried to do a rolling burnout just after getting them to burn of the slippy stuff and the wheel lifted instead of burning out so it just shows how sticky these tyres are.

i will keep you's posted of how they get on during the wear and tear of them.

The stock Pirelli Diablo Corsas seemed to be a decent tire for traction and handling, but the rear was nearly slick and starting to slide around at only 1500 miles. Front had 3mm tread but was cupping off center. I replaced them with Pilot Powers and absolutely love them. I have never used a tire that encourages so much confidence when leaned over. Most tires will have a weak point with a certain combination of road conditions (turn radius, camber and asphalt quality) but after running these through 400+ miles of my favorite twisty roads I have found no fault. One thing I did notice is these tires seem unsetteled and want to bounce around a bit until you find the right tire pressure. Not a problem though, just something to keep in mind.

I posted without looking through all the posts....until now.

I have to say i'm suprised at how many people run the harder rubber and say they are a better tire. I guess it truely depends on your riding style and abilities. In my experience i've ridden a lot of tires and I have never had that much respect for the michelin anythings on the liter bike (they were good for the 600rr)...they make a perfect car tire, but they slid around a lot more than even a dunlop, especially when cold. Bridgestone makes a good tire, but you need the real soft ones to not slide hard on the gas.

I also wanted to make it clear i choose the diablo corsa; not the corsa III, or regular diablo which is harder.

I agree that confidence in your tires makes a world of difference in your riding. Again, I think it depends on your riding style a lot though.

btw, just curious because I have no idea; but how many ama riders and moto gp riders use michelin on the track vs. dunlops or bridgestone or pirelli? ..anybody know the stats on that?

I dont know how some people get 7000 miles out of tires.. Tried the old pilot powers and for aggressive riding, they were way too slick. Kinda felt like riding on oil. In the rain they were great and cold they held pretty good under good acceleration.. They didnt hold too well and i only got about 2000 miles out of them maybe. I have since switched to the 190/60 d208gps on both my old R1 and the Repsol. I love these tires when they are hot but have had quite a few spins on them cold. Esp in the rain, I had mine spin at the top of second gear and just spin on me for quite a bit of the road. Ive had 4 or five sets of tires on the repsol already and love the way the dunlops feel when they are hot. I feel they last longer than the power race too cause I was racing a buddy up and down Palomar Mountain and his were gone after just two days on the mountain and I can get 4-6 days on the mountain on some new 208s. Im gonna try to 209s next and put some more slicks on my spare wheels since I got two trackdays out of the slicks and they are done too.

I say no way unless youre doing all that stretching of the swingarm stuff and killing the handling of the bike.. Stick with the stock size or play around with how tall the tire is like a 55 or 60 in race tire.

i was running the powers (non 2ct) for 80 miles...picked up a screw from hell, at the 25% lean area... the next day had it replaced with the road (2ct)... i have to agree with TX here:

i might run these to the end of tread then i will be going back to the powers (non 2ct)(why i choose the powers over the 2ct is a whole different post)
the road seems to be a great tire, but it is just a tad too hard, and that sacrifices a lot of my ability to get over and trust the tire. I can say that as i was applying power in lean the slide was VERY predictable, they are greasy feeling, but you know when its coming and how its going to break. i think this would be by far a great Sumo tire(ill put a set on my husky 510 and see), but street bike the powers suit my tase

You made the right choice by staying with a 190. The 200 would have slowed down your bikes handling and felt wierd in general.

Put them on with 8,900 miles 2 months ago and now with 10,000 miles on the bike I'm starting to see chords...wtf??? 1,100 miles and the rear is shot...I'm wondering if it's the chip and seal roads that are everywhere here. Where instead of replacing worn asphalt they coat the road with oil then drop gravel on top...I hate western roads. Any ideas? Peace. I was also surprised by how quickly the Corsas wore out. I got just over 1700 miles out of mine and the sides of the tires were slick. I replaced them with Pilot Powers and liked the PP's so much I ordered a second set to replace them when they wore out. They are definitely a road tire though, cause they tend to slide a bit getting to full lean and will spin up when leaned over if you are aggressive on the throttle. As far as going with a 190/55, you will get a taller tire. The feeling should be similar raising the forks to decrease front end ride height to quicken steering. I've never used the 190/55 though so I'm not sure if its size difference will be enough to notice or not. You should expect a longer lifespan from the PPs though. I measure my tread depth on new tires and check it at regular intervals to guage tire wear and potential lifespan. The front PPs had a tread depth of 4.5mm center and side while the rear had a depth of 6mm center and 4.5mm at the sides. At 1000 miles on the PPs my front measured 4mm center and 3.5mm side. The rear had 4mm center and 3mm side. If you consider these wear rates average, then one could expect roughly 3000 to 4000 miles out of these tires.

okay i am some what of a trie whore and tried something a little diff for some canyon riding put it on the new 07 ... they are the BT-015 they are decent on the the turns, very stable, the 2ct breaks sooner but they are more predictable, the BT was gripping hard than the 2ct , i didnt want to push it much more as i was geting a little tearing in the mid to low contact patch. i had more confiedence going into the turn witht the BT but exiting goes to the 2ct. longevity is SH!T !!! so canyon still gets my vote on the 2ct, but if you want to try something to get a good confiedence builder try these trires for a bit (cause thats all youll get )
