Exclamation Updating the site to 4.2.0

Okay, I've been working on the forum software update, and I'd like to see what you all have to say.

    http://dev.repsolforum.com

Please don't post in the "dev" forum as it will be removed after I update the live site.

Newer more sleek look for sure, like the new layout. Most of all like the fact that when i hit the scroll button when looking at pictures it maintains the picture in the window and does not close it out completely.

Just complete opinion on a minor aesthetic detail, if you could bump the quote bar up into the main message it would clean up threads quite nice I believe. Looks great!

Right away it asked me to download the iPad app for the new forum format. I personally browse RepsolForum on iPad/iPhone 99% of the time so I'll try the app and see what features and benefits it offers eg: push notifications, possibly/hopefully being able to load pics/vids without TapaTalk, etc...

Esthetically speaking there is too much grey, but only when compared to the current setup. I also noticed that there are quick buttons (right on the homepage) to the features that I use often, such as 'notifications', 'my profile', 'settings'. It makes sense and is just quicker to access...

William > what other features and benefits should we be looking for/experimenting with on the new 'dev' site...?

The new 'house' will become a 'home' no matter what because we'll all treat it as such...

Mike > just tried to mess with my avatar pic and whatnot. Couldn't do it straight from the iPad. Gonna try and get the 'dev' app and try it that way...

Does it have to be changed? I like the current look better....is it possible to update features but retain the current appearance? I don't even know what features need to be updated or added since this setup works great for me

I'd like to agree here too but lets wait to hear from William if the upgrade is necessary and if there are any 'game changer' features...

Well, I'm not sure what all the new features are as I'me still trying to get a handle on the new system, and there isn't much info out there about what each new feature actually does. What comes with the new version is updates, bug fixes, repair venerabilities and any possible new features they release. The current software receives no new updates.

It would be virtually impossible to update the site and make it look exactly like it does now. I wouldn't have the time needed to accomplish something like that and I would have to merge any changes I've made into every new update, and trust me that would be a huge task.

I'm still working on the layout, and I'm trying to get it as close as possible to the current sire, but I think that we will have to get used to some changes to the layout.

Okay, I think I got everything nailed down. It will probably take me about an hour or two to update the site. I'm not sure when I will do this work, but I will let everyone know when to expect the site to be down for the upgrade.
